Latest Letters Destroy the nuclear facilities of Iran and North Korea President Bush should not permit hostile regimes seeking our destruction to produce nuclear weapons. It is in America's self-interest to destroy the nuclear capabilities of Iran and North Korea before they make good on their threats against us. Standing idly by or attempting to engage in futile negotiations with our enemies would be a self-sacrificial policy. If, for strategic reasons, President Bush cannot wage an all-out war against the full "axis of evil," he should, at the very least, eliminate their nuclear threat. This would buy us time to overthrow or destroy these regimes, and would send a message to our other terrorist enemies around the world that we are serious about fighting--and winning--this war. Is Russia with Us or with the Terrorists? The accord Russia signed this week to accelerate the construction of a nuclear reactor in Iran and supply it with nuclear fuel is a direct threat against the security of the United States. According to our State Department, Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, financing, training and equipping terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad. Iran's claim that the reactor will be used for civilian purposes is absurd. Iran has more oil to generate electricity than it could possibly consume. Moreover, Iran's intentions towards the United States (the "Great Satan") have been made clear by 23 years of chanting "Death to America" in state-controlled mosques. At this point, it appears that Russia has decided to side with the Iranian terrorist regime and against us. Now it is up to us to act accordingly and let the Russians know that being a friend of the United States is safer and more profitable than being its enemy. David Holcberg Senior writer for the Ayn Rand Institute Irvine, CA United States 949-222-6550 ext. 226 davidh@aynrand.org On State of the AddressFailure To Sentry: Sentry, I just read your piece on the State of the Union address and the insight it shows startled me. As a regular columnist on Etherzone myself, I could not agree with you more in all the points you made. I felt that Bush's speech was a "money giveaway" and a kick in the ass for America, but I couldn't define what was so wrong with it. You did that for me. Thanks.Jim Moore ( Jim Moore is a free-lance political writer and can be reached at Jmoore1819@aol.com) To Sentry: Very good Article. The reason is Bush is a bought and paid for mouthpiece for the NWO. The CFR runs this country and wish to disarm us and destroy our economy so the NWO can be completed. ronn@cognisurf.com To Sentry: Thank you for a straight ahead and courageous article. It seems that we and the beltway banditos (and their globalists-banker puppeteers) exist in parallel universes, and our only contact is our tax money going out, and their tyrannical rule making coming in. Because there is no historical precedent to guide us, I'm left to my own gloomy thoughts about America's future. My concern is that by the time the majority awaken to the truth, they will be a majority of taxpayers, but not voters. And, any attempt to mobilize the troops will be dealt with in ways that will make the Soviet gulags look like a Club Med retreat. Over twenty years ago, I started reading "subversive" stuff from tax protestors, and even before I went to the law library to verify the cases I read about, I knew the truth when I saw it. It vibrated like a tuning fork, and I've learned to trust that instinct over the years. Having qualified myself as someone who isn't brainwashed, I'd like to get your cut on this: I believe that Americans who could make a difference are divided in to two factions. Those who directly benefit from the status quo and won't listen to the truth (i.e. they want their monthly check from the non existent Social Security trust fund) and, those who know the truth but also benefit, like Zbigniew Brzezinski, and many others, down to the local beatnik socialist college professor who still believes that Karl Marx was a misunderstood genius. The silent majority who pay "their" taxes and fly the flag on holidays and after disaster strikes, have been conditioned to leave politics to the professionals, and make no effort to educate themselves. For example, every time I mention Israel in my local barber shop, the good ol' boys (many who I've known for years) freeze like deer caught in my headlights. Their eyes roll back in their heads, and suddenly, we are discussing football! Keep up the writing, because your work is greatly appreciated.Jim N., Wilm, DE To Sentry: Right on Sentry! I heard it exactly as you did. Bush would have been called a liberal/socialist just 40 years ago!!! Now he's a conservative? Shows just how far we've strayed. That line in the sand just keeps on getting re-drawn. thanks.S. Enriquez San Diego, CA On Issue #22 Sentry Over America To Sentry: Sentry, as usual I found more information and intelligent editorializing than any main stream or online publications. Your uncanny ability to hit the nail right on the head and get past the spin to the heart of the matter is unmatched. I just wish you would jump to a more traditional media outlet so the millions of uninformed zombies walking around out there could have the gift of your insight. The fact that you are witty while delivering the truth about our worst fears, is that spoonful of sugar that helps make the medicine go down. I find myself reading less and less the other publications I once depended on, and eagerly awaiting each new issue of Sentry. Please keep up the good work. And know that there are those of us out here who consider you a true "Patriot." Going back to the days when to be one really meant something.JSturgill On Don't Stimulate ThereStimulate Here! It is staggering!!!! 45% of US govt employees are BLACK considering that they only make up 14% or so of the population. Funny no cries for affirmative action there eh? Kevin Tuma wrote an article about blacks on Etherzone for which he was crucified. But I must say, I am stunned at your facts. I definitely wanted to follow up on Kevin's article, and my own article ("Why blacks struggle" - which is in the Etherzone archives). I would like to refer to this article of yours and some of your statistics if you don't mind. You have some stunning data in that article of yours. I believe that if there is to be progress in race relations then it has to be based on honesty, as well as recognising that not everybody performs in the same way. No matter where you go on this planet, there is no place where you will find different races equally represented in jobs, income, etc. There is nothing inherently sinister in this - it has always been this way, and always will. What I object to, is the incessant blame game which is being played by certain people who are out to (mainly) attack white people. I live in Africa and I see many things which really should be put on CNN or the BBC much more often, because it would show clearly, that white people in Africa and in the rest of the world are not the scum-bags which the left is portraying them as. White people, for the most part, are productive and contribute much to society, and even to black people. But it is fashionable, for the left, since they want to change the world, to try to find some excuse, and they have tried to use the problems of black people as the reason to hammer away at whites and to thereby run white people out of positions of power. That is the real game that is being played and in the long run it will damage race relations more than anything in the past. Indeed, I believe, if black people continue to go along with this line of thinking then in the long run they may discredit themselves as a race. I can see that blacks in Africa are losing credibility in the eyes of the world with each passing year. I know, for example, of instances where European companies have refused to invest in South Africa and other African countries unless the finances were completely controlled by white people!! Nobody is doing more harm to the image of black people than the dictators and maniacs who run much of Africa. African Americans would, if they were wise, distance themselves from Africa's rulers and start criticising them. It would be the only way to strengthen their own credibility. Blacks don't seem to realise that through their current actions, they are actually going to harm themselves in the eyes of everyone else in the long term. I really loved your article and hope to see more of the same. This kind of talk is badly needed in the USA and around the world. Regards, Jan Cheers, Jan.... Please keep these great columns coming; hopefully it will enlighten those who have been brainwashed. It is all so hypocritical, isn't it?Andrea M. To Sentry: Greatness to me is standing on "truth", no matter where it takes you. It will sort itself out for the good of all. Pandering to get votes is lying! Lyers, whether its Bush or anyone, does not put our country first! To tell the truth, will bring in more votes from the undecided, than anything you could do for blacks or hispanics! Our borders and black extortionists, are gaining much ground for liberals and pandering from Bush. Why can't he see this? We must do what we can to expose this! Thanks.Faye, Pleasantville, Ohio To Sentry: It is a fact that the government has imposed racial quotas within its structure since it could not force the public to embrace same. It is more than likely that the stats you cite are due to hiring's from previous administrations. I doubt that these imbalances suddenly arose during Bush's first two years. Should these numbers be corrected. Yes. Jobs as well as college admissions should be based merit. You damage your own argument by placing the blame for years of reverse discrimination at the feet of George W Bush. Rather one should lay the responsibility with those in Congress, who over the last 40 years, decided it was easier to "buy" votes with entitlements and wealth re-distribution, than with intelligent ideas or integrity.Ken H. Response To Ken: Hi Ken, thank you so much for commenting on my article. The second to last paragraph in my article notes that Bush did not originate the ingrained racism. I state he could do more to reverse the pervasive racism other than this token brief. I am not really placing the blame on Bush for 40 years of racism. I am calling the attention to the fact it is there, he is president--change it. I was with President Bush in Orlando on the Bush-Cheney 2000 jet the day before the election in 2000. I am a vicious anti-liberal, pro-American. However, unlike many pro-Republican, pro-Bush people you and I both know, I hold Republicans accountable for the failure to reverse the socialistic steamroller in America. You will notice in my articles throughout my web site a common theme. By holding Republicans accountable and viciously attacking them for their failure to reverse the injustices we see, we gain more traction than by simply bashing Democrats. Ken, I agree with you about Congress. Trent Lott and Company failed to stop the socialism steamroller under Clinton. Presidents have the power to make news, veto legislation, and make more noise and draw national attention to matters than Congress does. We have the problems today because one president, and 500 Congressmen and Senators, care more about their pension and job than providing a future for 280 million Americans and their dependents. Thanks so much for writing. You letter will appear in Sentry Over America's "Letters to the Editor". (PS: For an interesting article in the defense of President Bush, you may want to read "Economic Ignorance" in Issue # 21 of Sentry Over America to show that I carry no bias, just attack issues from a unique angle). Publisher, Sentry Over America Ken Follow-up to Sentry: Thanks for your response. I did miss that reference. Look forward to future correspondence.Hen H. On Liberals Retain Senate Control To Sentry: Good article. I wish more people would understand that there is only one major party, the Incumbency Party, which, as you point out, is liberal and only gets more so each year. Hence, it's not who gets elected that matters, it's who gets kicked out of office. Voting is only effective as a punishment, not as a reward. It still astounds me to see incumbent democrats in my state win locally by thin margins for no other reason than the fact that they are democrats. But, I happily vote against Incumbents, of republican or democratic stripe. Somebody is going to take office, regardless of whether anybody votes or not. We as voters can't prevent that. But the guy who is not an incumbent has not done anything to harm us yet. The guy who is an incumbent has done plenty to harm us in almost all cases. If we don't punish him by putting him out of a job, we have no real impact. We will continue to be ruled by the lesser of two weevils. I am convinced that until the Incumbency Party begins to see some serious election losses, until they begin to really fear for their jobs, nothing will change politically. Except for the steady, glacial drift deeper into socialism. Let's just see how Bush's nominees for administrative and judicial posts fare, now that we have a republican Senate. Think they'll get confirmed? I hear that the democrat fall-back position is going to be filibusters.Steven L., Indiana To Sentry: Amen Sentry 100% correct, the only thing that increased was Whitehouse spin, calling a few reps elected a bush mandate - NOT! Sure good they snuffed Wellstone in time, or they'd have to lie even more.GWM(abbrev)@webtv.net On Principles PromoterSelf Promoter To Sentry: Magnificent job! I thought I was the only one who was fed up with his self-promotion and advertising. What once was a good radio show is now a waste of time. Most of the show is his own promoting and paid advertising. He's not entertaining, nor informative, nor funny. I don't bother tuning in anymore - - even liberal newsradio WCBS and the awful Dave Ross is preferable. If I was given his book I'd use it for kindling.Dave Dix Hills, NY Response To Dave: Dave, Thank you for your comments on Sentry Over America's column "Principles Promoter--Self Promoter". Sean Hannity had the opportunity to be at the very top of his profession. He has blown that big time. Rarely will Sean ever spend a few seconds reinforcing what he or the caller just said on their brief discussion, even if it is a very crucial issue. He ends the call on the most brilliant points made all month by the caller or himself, then immediately changes his tone and starts chatting with Flipper, etc. What a lack of sincerity! Or, he spends too much time promoting himself or too much time giggling or engaging in fluff and there is no time leftthat is why he is always "I am coming up on a hard breakgotta go". I am certain that his screener is ordered to get him a higher percentage of women who call in, especially those who want to say how much they love him. We face such grave national security issues now. It is farcical to hear Sean Hannity talk with a "passion" on an issue, then immediately change his tone and move into some fluff talk. Listen carefully and you will note an obvious lack of sincerity. Sean Hannity with a Michael Savage attitude would be a great combo.Sentry To Sentry: I agree totally with you about Sean Hannity. I also feel that Glen Beck is just as bad as Sean when it comes to talking to callers or guests. Rush is my favorite conservative talk show host. He doesn't need guests or callers really for me to love his show. But even though I am a conservative, I really enjoy listening to Neal Boortz, the libertarian talk radio host out of Atlanta. I find him less offensive than Glen Beck and Sean. The only thing that I disagree with Neal on is his libertarian political views, but alot of what he says fits the conservative viewpoints. Another great conservative talk radio host is Mike Gallagher. He is respectful to callers even if he gets some liberal callers. My great wish though is that Michelle Malkin or some lady conservative like her, becomes a national talk radio host. As much as I enjoy the male conservative hosts, I would love to hear a female conservative's views and opinions too. Thank you for your columns, Sentry. I enjoy reading your opinions and visiting your website.Donna South Charleston, SC To Sentry: I enjoyed this article and agree with what I'm hearing it say. While neither a conservative nor a liberal (I'm one of those horrible fence-sitting radical moderates), I certainly have many individuals I admire and respect in either camp. On the conservative side, Ms. Malkin is certainly one of those, right in there with George Will, William Buckley, and Mary Matalin among others. Sean Hannity is certainly not. I couldn't agree more with the self-promotion part of the article on him. I also would have one question to ask him if I were ever to meet him. As a Vietnam Veteran, I'd like to know when Mr. Hannity is going down to the Recruiter's offices. While being unable to drive him there myself I would, none the less, most certainly be more than happy to pay his cab fare and accompany him. Hoa binh, -- JMH, Topeka, KS RVN 1967/68 To Sentry: Great article. I love conservative talk radio, but Hannitys show is wearing thin due in great part to his self promotion , which you hit spot on in this fine piece. Great job!.Dave S.(abbrev)@aol.com To Sentry: I been trying to put into words how despicable Hannity is. This guy is so vain and such a narcissist, I am ever so glad for this piece. I'm going to copy it in total and send it to that jerk -- he won't read it, but I'll feel better for sending it. And, I hope that dipper "flipper" takes one mouthful too many.Dave C.(abbrev) Sarasota, FL To Sentry: You are accurate about Mr. Hannity and his shameless self-promotion but you overlooked some of his other glaring flaws: 1. He never, ever, allows a challenge (as is true of almost every such host of his ilk) to any of his "facts"; all challengers are placed in the dust bin of radio waves--so he can promote himself and his inane arguments; 2. He brazenly, perhaps ignorantly, engages in every form of fallacious reasoning identified--please see any primer on reasoning, rhetoric, or logic ("Logic for Dummies" comes to mind); 3. His facts are 99% anecdotal--which makes them a form of non-proof--and 1% drivel. I listen to him occasionally while driving during the day. He, like Bennie Hinn, provides me with a "pleasurable loathing".PB(abbrev)@cox.net On Glenn BeckDig Deeper For Clinton Dirt To Sentry: Howdy, folks. Great web site. I just wanted to add to the list of talk show hosts who welcome opposing points of view: Michael Medved is the best, in my opinion. Keep up the good work! It summarizes about how the jackasses and stupid elephants are betraying us.Gaurav Ahuja To Sentry: GREAT JOB!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! Best Wishes and God Bless!!! JD (abbrev) @earthlink.net To Sentry: Our fellow 'citizens' (a very loose term, that) have allowed the greatest acquisition and concentration of power in our nation' s history, even more so than the 'greatest generation' of that commie shill, brokaw (small letter intended). The fools believe that trading rights for security will work this time, even though it never has at any time in the past, simply because it is now "American". Are we now witnessing the ultimate objective of dumbing down the education system? While it is very difficult for me to understand how or why knowing my movie rentals, banking history, credit card purchases, etc. will facilitate the 'war on terror', it is not at all hard for me to understand that this very information is VERY critical for putting in place a police state. But then, it cannot happen here, can it!! Of course not. Why? Because we are American, of course!! I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I guess that makes us both "enemies of the state". So be it. Nothing will change the fact that our republic is lost and is in the process of being replaced by an old fashioned european dictatorship right before our eyes. But then, our fellow citizens, those marvels of intellectual capacity, those of whom fully 2/3's indicated after 911 that they would trade rights for security, are directly responsible. With "citizens" such as these, who on earth needs enemies? -- KH (abbrev) @aol.com To Sentry: well said, god bless -- RB@[company withheld] On Why Mourn for Paul Wellstone? To Sentry: Thank You!! Paul Wellstone was a traitor. I thought I was going to become physically ill when all the Republican's as well as Democrats started lauding all this praise over him. "We may not agree with his politics, but he was a man of conviction" "He was such a nice guy" Give me a break!!! This is the same man who prompted an attack on a republican camera man at a rally just a couple of weeks ago. These Socialist that have taken over so much of our country were planning to send in bus loads of teenagers to Minnesota to vote for Wellstone under the motor voter law and throw the election. I knew about this a week or two prior to his death, common sense tells us they will go in and rig the election for Mondale. Where does this stop???? Once again, Thanks!Sue Anne S. The House of Representatives has 100% control of federal policies that effect the economy. They hold the purse strings. No money = no program. A president willing to up federal spending gives them the cover they need and the scape goat to blame when they rachet up the spending.Lee C.(abbrev) Elkhart, Indiana To Sentry: So what am I too do I am a black man who pays half my money away in taxes. Under your plan would I get two reparations. Are because i am black and by your stands a slave master would I get nothing. And if you can justuify slaverly by "everyone else did it". There are a lot of bad things you can justuify like trying to take over the world, a lot of other countries tryed to do it over history why not us. I don't agree with "It seems that America owes black people a lot for what we have endured. We cannot settle for some little jive token. We need millions of acres of land that black people can build. We're not begging white people. We are just demanding what is justly ours." either. If that was true this country would have to turn every thing (and I mean every thing) over to the Indians because none of us white or black or any other race was here before them. Thomas Sowell asked, "Does anyone seriously suggest that blacks in America today would be better off if they were in Africa? If not, then what is the compensation for?" So how better would you " white people" off in England paying ALL of your money to the Queen. Do you think all of us "blacks" are marching in the street demanding Reparations I would be just as happy to get some of my taxes back every year. I agree with the republications more than any other party, but people like you who think ( many, but not all blacks) are nothing but lazy good for nothing leeaches on the American system I can stand. Where I work I see almost as may whites useing food stamps and other programs like that like WIC and others. So I think you need to take another look at the nation as a whole. Because there are a lot of us "blacks" that are still in slavery too.NU(abbrev)@GameBox.net
