2 The criteria for satisfaction and how educational institutions can fulfill them
2.5 Attitude All the goodwill shown in the paragraphs above will be useless if an individual's attitude is rebellious and selfish. Of those who are selfish, some are not evil at heart, they are just afraid that their good efforts will be wasted as long as other people with the wrong attitude are around. These people just need to be convinced that they must take the first step if they want others to follow, that they cannot wait for others to take the initiative and that they must trust that their effort will not be wasted. This will take some time, but with every degree of improved satisfaction, the ones on the edge between two attitudes will be more willing to tend towards the attitude that is confident in goodwill. Of the rebellious type (that is, those who make it a point not to stick to any rules, just in order to get attention or to enable themselves to consider themselves special and powerful), some individuals' rebelliousness can surely be turned into a healthy amount of criticism which is in fact highly necessary to keep society up to the best level possible. If no one criticises or rebels, who will detect and alert shortcomings? Of course there will always be people who go against society. Their number can be decreased though and their impact weakened or changed into something everyone can benefit from. Expert psychologists in daycare centers will be able to read youngsters' mental palms and help them catch a train in the right direction. In some countries, the government has moral education for convicted criminals, trying to reconvert them to a better way of life. This is a good effort, yet even here, I believe in prevention rather than cure. What happens around us during our younger years has a great impact on how we will lead our lives in future and with what attitude we approach tasks and decisions. It should be given that during the early stage of our lives we should be taken well care of by not only our parents but also cunning personnel who will support our parents and make them aware of mistakes. If a nation can be turned to evil through propaganda on children, generations might as well be turned to good by roughly 1) the same method. 1) Take note of the 'roughly' here. I was, as many will have realized, referring to the way Hitler educated Germany's youngsters at the time before and during WWII. For the new educational system that I am talking about, I have, however, no intentions whatsoever to have a secret police corps or to chase and execute individuals who do not agree with the general ideas of the government or to apply any of the physically cruel methods used then. 2.1 Health 2.2 Living standard 2.3 Activities 2.4 Knowledge |
