Now and Then...

Megaman started out as a 2D side-scroller platform game in the early 90s. Over these years, he has turned into one of the iconic characters that Capcom had produced over years in the game industry. However, over the years where 2D platform games has diminished to give way to 3D games, the release of such game genres on PC and consoles becomes increasingly unprofitable.

Due to the lesser processing capabilities of handheld games, game makers turn their attention to developing games on such systems instead. Megaman Battle Network 5 is available in cartridge form for the Gameboy Advance handheld console. While handheld consoles do not boast of 3D capabilities, they are often popular for their portability. Hence, it takes up quite a portion of the video gaming market. Another advantage of handhelds are also the economy of remaking video game classics like megaman and bringing new life to it. Game makers are able to capture the attention of long time fans while attracting younger players as well.

For Megaman Battle Network series, the artwork has been revivsed and story plots are constructed in order to fit the current times today. A more sophiscated look and more vibrant character caters not only to young players new to it, but also fans who reminse of the good old days.
