Cyber Troopers Virtual On Created by Sega, the first game of Cyber Troopers Virtual On showed up in Japan in 1995 as an arcade game, and it became an instant hit. Involving giant 'mechs fightning in a 3-D arena, this action game has the qualities of standard fightning games with huge robots as its characters, with many more features and unique additions to boot. The controls involves two joysticks (or flight-sticks, as its usually called), with a trigger and a button on each joystick. This unique controls enable the game to break the limits of the standard joystick and 4-button pad that most arcade games rely on, and introduces the player to a whole new dimension of gameplay. Controlling any of the variety of vastly different robots (or Virtuaroids) available are simple, with the movements blending into you before long. Virtual On not only requires quick reflexes, it demands knowledge of the Virtuaroids and the vast stratagies available in order to win.With the first Virtual On game having a huge success, a sequel was made, and released in 1998. Unlike most sequels, this time round, it went off much better than the first. Soon, a few more sequels showed up, with more and more improvements and features being added in. Sadly, however, while the first two arcade games was imported overseas, the remaining sequels did not make it out of Japan, thus this is where the hype died down. Like all arcade games, Sega made a console version of Virtual On. Soon, with each sequel, Virtual On started turning up on various consoles, ranging from PlayStation to DreamCast. Some of the sequels are limited to only consoles, and never went further.
