Went back to Tray Gap and hiked to Deep Gap Shelter.  63.3 miles from Springer Mt.
It was a beautiful sunny day.  A welcomed relief from the thunder storms, snow and freezing conditions.  Jay and I took a few pictures fro Tray Mt.  We could see for several miles.  Every hiker that we met going south told us about the Feast in the Woods at Addis Gap.  There was to plenty to eat and drink.  (This was the 12th annual Feast in the woods provided by previous thru-hikers)  Naturally Jay and I put our feet in high gear and headed for the Party:):):)  Trail Angels were definitely at work - There was AYCE and drink...pop, cookies, hot dogs, sandwich meats, hot veggies from the grill, corn on the cob_____all for free!:)  Simon even had a hot dog and some cookies.  He was also joined by 2 other dogs; however Simon didn't think much of their presence since he was trying to be on his best behavior and at the same time get some rest and shut eye.
Needless to say, we didn't make it into Dicks Creek Gap like we had planned, but we did have our bellies full.  Sacked out at Deep Gap Shelter.  We still had about 5 miles to go before hitching a ride to Hiawassee to pick up a mail drop.

General Information
Deep Gap Shelter (1983) Sleeps 12 - Privy.  As you reach the high point of your climb of Kelly Knob, there is a clearing on the right side of the Trail.  On a clear day, you can see three states from there: distant Table Rock, a mountain in South Carolina; Standing Indian Mountain, a day or two north of North Carolina; and Georgia at your feet.
