Newfound Gap (Gatlinburg)
Took zero day due to bad thunderstorms, lightening and possible tornado warnings in the area.
It did rain hard off and on during the day.  Right now I'm sitting on the bank of the Pigeon River watching a couple guys catch some rainbow trout.  I've already had my supper of Kentucky fried chicken and slaw and mashed potatoes.  While sitting her I saw 3 mallard ducks and fish coming out of the water.  There 2 mallard duck over to the side and 10 or 12 tiny baby ducks.  Cute as can be; they are just floating around following Mama all over the place.  Don't seem to have to many worries.
Gatlinburg is a touristy little town and I took advantage of today and did something completely different.  I could catch the trolley and go anywhere in town for a quarter.  I went up to the post office first which was about a three mile ride out of town to get the post office and mailed some information to update the journal and some pictures.
I went to the arts and crafts on the yellow bus, cost me a buck.  I could stay as long as I wanted in any area and see the local crafts that had been made in the area, anywhere from gang chairs, to all kinds of wood carving, to ceramics and candles.  You name it and it was there.
It was a different day and I enjoyed the people I met.  There was this one lady from Cincinnati that when we were coming home this evening I was telling her about hiking the AT and why I was hiking.  She handed me a ten dollar bill and told me to give that to NIN.
In Gatlinburg the flowers are really beautiful.  down in the valley the leaves are probably half way out, bright and green.  The irises are blooming, the azaleas blooms are read or white. The redbuds are blooming, dogwoods in full bloom.  Pansies, yellow, blue and white were beautiful in the boxes along the motel rooms.
This Pigeon river is really pretty,  The water is rushing over the rocks here in the area where I am.  I'm seeing a lot of white caps, while listening to the joy of the sound water.
I went to Chris's Garden that built my a man who had TB early in his life and that promised  God that if he got well he would devote his life to Christ and he would search and find articles that would be very authentic to the bible and would present it for people to see.  I understand that Mr. Legion only uses the money he needs to run Chris's Garden and the rest is donated to various churches or organizations.  The Chris's Gardens were very inspirational, very life like,  Depicted the various stories from the time that birth to time of death , and the resurrection.
Going and try to get to bed a little early tonight, I didn't sleep very well last night,  I guess I didn't have that shelter floor to sleep on.
Came back to the motel and got on the Web site for the first time and looked at the pledge count.
