Left Tom
Leonard Lean-to with Ken about 7:40am. The trail to Great
Barrington #23 was level, some rocks. A few boulders that we
had to climb up at first. It was very easy traveling with dirt
covered and pine needles. We made it there in about one hour
and a half. Ken and loaded up Simon and went into Great
Barrington and he took me to the grocery store where I got Simon's
food and little other stuff. Then we went to the coffee shop
and had some coffee and a Berger with cheese. |
Got back on the trail about 10:40am.
The trail here again was really easy. Roller coaster, part
terrain. Got into some big boulders up around the ledges.
Benedict Pond was just beautiful. A couple of fishermen where
out there fishing. The sun was really shinning on it so that
made it sparkle. |
Then in the afternoon, by the time I got to
Mt. Wilcox South Lead-to it had started to rain, so I decided to go
into the shelter and fix myself some lunch and wait out the rain a
little bit. I just joined another through hiker, can't
remember his trail name off hand, but we stayed there for about
another hour. A local person also came in with his dog and we
sat there and talked to him for a little while. They left and
I decided to go one to Goose Pond cabin area. |
It's getting pretty late in the day
by the time I got to Wilcox North Lean-to. I decided I would
not go in there and camp some place along the way. The area
coming on through was pretty much level. Not to many large
boulders. |
I decided to camp at Shaker Camp site.
There is no here but me. I will go tomorrow toward Goose Pond
and further. Haven't made up my mind. I would like to
get into Dalton in the next couple of days. |
