Leaving Fullhardt Know Shelter at 7:20am.  718.9 miles from Springer Mt. We stayed last night because of the rain. Planning on doing an 18 mile day.  Today there's no rain, however it's real foggy. I hoping the fog will lift and that it'll turn out be a pretty day.
Following an old road way that went to the fire tower at Fullhardt.  Down hill, very clear area with a lot of laurel blooming.  Pretty!  I'm glad the path is fairly clear and we don't get so wet.  A hardwood forest with a lot of pith pines in this area.  The brush along side the trail brushes up against your clothes, so much for dry clothes.
Going down hill again on a long smooth natural base switch backs.  Down closer to Curly Creek we're getting into a lot of white pines and hardwoods.  Now going up a hill from Curly Creek a good size little creek.
We had switch backs going up and now we're going down into the Wilson Creek area.  I can hear the water already, so I'm not very far from Wilson Creek.  So far today the trail has been fairly easy.  Some short ups and downs, but no large boulders.  My clothes and shoes never dried out from last night.
Wilson Creek was flowing rapidly and swift from the resent night rains.  The water is very clear that most of the mountain streams.  Make good drinking water and is always really cold.  Wilson Creek has a lot of falls.  Just above Wilson Creek is spot where they used to mine charcoal for the iron furnaces..  Left Wilson Creek Shelter at 11:20am
Out here there's some moss torn up in the trail and leaves shuffled around.  We saw a bear print.  Starting to criss-cross the Blue Ridge Crossway and just came across 94.7  US service road.  The trail is extremely rocky in this area, straight up, and it has a lot of little fine rock that twists and turns your ankles, and it's washed out which make it harder to hike in.
The AT parallels the Blue Ridge Highway at 97.0 US service road.  We supposed to view Taylor Mountain from here, the elevation is 2,543' and the elevation where we're standing is 2,340' , I can see Taylor Mt. off in the distance, but barely.  It's really hazy.  I think we're going to get some rain.
