Gooch Gap - stayed over night near Cooper Gap
Stayed on top of Sassafras Mt. and left for Cooper Gap to Gooch shelter where we lunched with several hikers.  New shelter, didn't stay, to early to stop.
Ramrock Mt. area is section that the trail begins to become very rocky with large boulders on to of the mountain.
Arrived at Woody Gap (Suches, GA) and re-supply.  When we arrived at Gap we were really surprised, trail angels, Sharon and "Tracker" Stephenson provided all hikers coming off the trail a full course spread.....lunch meats, pop, cookies, cake, doughnuts, o-juice, potato chips and a variety of breads...all you could eat!  "Tracker" took several of the hikers to the little store inside Suches for re-supplies and then came back for us.  And to top the feast off......pecan ice cream.  Jay and I were there for a couple of hours.  Signed their register book and included the AT website.  Sharon had two sons and a granddaughter who were preemies.  A thru-hiker, "One Thing" had already told her I was coming through after him on the AT and would have a dog hiking for NIN.  She was expecting us; so it was a good thing that I had mention to her about NIN.
Tented on top of Big Cedar Mt.  Built a warm campfire and had a wonderful view of the valley below us to the East.  Went to bed about 10:00pm.  Early in the morning hours all hell broke loose!  It started to thunder and lightening and then poured buckets of rain.  Everything was soaked and heavy to carry.  Jay and I thought about leaving the tents and going lower down on the mountain until the storm passed, but decided against that idea. - I haven't had much sleep since leaving Amicolola Falls.
