Table Topics and International Speech Contest
Guests
We welcomed guests
Heather and Elizabeth. Also Pamela, who has been a member of a Toastmasters
Club in Canberra, and Edith, a former member of our club. We were pleased
that both Pamela and Edith have decided to become members of our club.
Presentations
Monica was presented
with a badge for sponsoring 5 new members, and our club was presented with
a "Select Distinguished" ribbon for our banner, as we had met 8 of our 10
goals.
Round Robin
Narda introduced
a four-letter word - HATE, and asked us "What do you hate?" The answers were
varied. A few of the hateful things were Table Topics, zucchinis, and
toilet seats that were left up.
Poem
Lenore read two poems that her friend had written,
"Restoration" and "Reach Beyond"
Table Topics
Contest
The contestants were Kellie, Neville, Caroline,
Del, and Trish. The topic was, "Behind closed doors."
The winners were:

International Speech
Competition
Contestants were:
1. Trish "Shades of Gray"
2. Kellie "On the Inside"
3. David "Consequences"
They were all excellent speeches, and the winner was: Trish again!

Raffle
Lenore donated a Salsa bowl, with a salsa dip and chips. It was won by
David.
Coming Up
September 10 :Next meetings theme will be "Spring - New Growth."
To celebrate Spring, bring along a plant cutting to swap.
Sunday October 6:. Area Conference at Brighton Bowling Club,Sandgate.
Monday October 7: SpeechCraft.
An 8 week course run by our club at the Brighton State School, North Rd,
Brighton.
October 29: .Novice Speech and Interpretive Reading contests.
