Longer Pieces

Killing Time (251Kb)  (PG-13 language, slash)
Time is what you make of it, especially if you're Rodney McKay.  A Beckett/McKay AU adventure.  Written for the divergent_paths challenge community.  (Based on the principle of the movie The Family Man starring Nicholas Cage.  What would a certain character's life be like in another world?  What would their reaction be if they could live that other life?)

Here's a taste:

"Where the hell is the Stargate?" he demanded.

Both men looked at him in confusion.  They shared a worried glance at each other before looking back at him.

"Excuse me, doctor.  The what?" Hammond asked in his Texas drawl.

Rodney pointed at the large empty room below them just beyond the glass and yelled, "The Stargate!  You know, big round ring, takes you to other planets."

"Other planets?" Carson repeated in an amused voice.

Rodney sighed.  "This is the worst dream ever."

Traps and Fate (112kb)  (PG Slash)
Written for the Zelenka ficathon on the welovezelenka LJ community.  A Zelenka/Beckett adventure.  Sometimes even the little guys have to save the day.

Here's a taste:

"Doctors Beckett and Zelenka are out there.  Surely they have called for help by now," Teyla said patiently.

"Our fate is being left up to those two jokers?  We're all dead!"

"Rodney, I thought you liked Carson and Zelenka," John said.

"Yes, of course.  In their fields I respect them, which is more than most people get.  It's just that they're not exactly the gung ho types.  I prefer my life saving to be done by professionals, thank you very much."

"Who are we kidding, sir?" Ford said.  "They're probably sitting out in the jungle waiting for us to save them."
