CHEVETTE FOUR CYLINDER HOP-UPS

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS ON HOT-RODDING THE CHEVETTE FOUR CYLINDER MOTOR.THESE MOTORS CAN BE BUILT TO BE FAIRLY QUICK AND REMEMBER THAT IN A CHEVETTE JUST A FEW EXTRA HORSES ARE NOTICABLE.

The 81-87 head has a swirl intake port which is very restrictive to air flow. Consequently, it does not make power as well as the earlier head without careful port work. It does, however, have a taller (1.300") valve spring installed height in stock form. The 76-80 head has better intake ports, and will flow more air.So if possible try to install a head from an earlier chevette.

Another thing you can do is to remove the fan and install an electric fan...less drag equals more horses.

If legal in your area, remove the smog pump and emissions crap.

Polish and port the head.

Replace the stock coil with a high performance coil.
