The
Pioneer Game will be run using both the standard Final Conflict rules and the
Final Conflict House Rules that are available in HTML form for online perusal or
as a Word document for download from this website, the rule set may change
during the game but not without discussion from the GM and the with the consent
of all players involved.
Since
this will be the first game of The Final Conflict that I have GM’d the early
turns may suffer from some slight delays but I will aim to run each turn on
Sunday afternoon (GMT). Therefore turns should be sent via email to s_kennedy@lineone.net
to arrive by 13:00 GMT every Sunday afternoon. If any changes need to be made to
these deadlines I will inform you.
Turns
for this game should consist of a plain email sent to the above email address
(please note the _ between s and kennedy) with a subject line of The Final
Conflict Pioneer Game Orders. Please write an order for each of the countries
that you control, and don’t forget that each country can only accomplish one
action per turn. So for example your turn could consist of:
Agrilon
Build Armies
Upland Attack Magria
Grarg
Reinforce Upland
If
any order within your turn is ambiguous or does not follow the standard rules
then I will not seek clarification from you, I will simply treat
the order as invalid and it will default to the build armies order.
Shortly
I will create an order input program to ease the turn process and will give you
the option of using either the program or a standard email.
Turns
will be produced as a Rich Text Format document and will be emailed to all
players simultaneously. They will also be available as a webpage on this site.
When
the game was originally played via the Personal Computer Games magazine there
were hundreds (or thousands) of players controlling the actions of four
superpowers. This game will be one player per power and so to minimize the
disruption of dropouts I have increased the number of nations to seven. I have
also changed the initial starting conditions of the countries to reflect the
fact that some players start in more exposed positions than others.
If
I am informed, before the event, of a good reason for a player failing to submit
orders for 2 consecutive turns then I may keep the position open for his/her
return to the game otherwise he/she will be removed from the game as per the
house rules.
Inter-player
contact is actively encouraged. Plan, scheme, plot and backstab all that you
like but remember that the game will finish and the overall winner will be
announced as soon as one player controls seventeen countries. In certain
circumstances however the game could be declared over if all of the remaining
players agree to it.
There
are no prizes for the winner, but the results of this game and others will be
displayed on my website.
Finally
this game is completely free, I am running it in my spare time and although I am
committed to giving the best service possible I may not always be available to
answer your comments or questions immediately. I check my emails every day and
will try to respond to you as soon as possible but please be patient with me if
you don’t get an instant reply. I will send out a response to every mail that
I receive (even if it is just an automated thank you for submitting your turn)
but due to the nature of the Internet and email systems technical problems do
occur.
