Cut, Copy and Paste Tutorial

On this page we are going to learn how to cut, copy, and paste. This little trick is very important if you are planning on working with HTML. You have to be exact when you are working with HTML codes. Most of HTML mistakes are from typo's. If you make one mistake and leave something out, you are not going to get the effect that you are looking for. With Cut, Copy and Paste a lot of these mistakes won't happen. Plus it saves lots of time. So get ready we are going to start you on your way to Cut, Copy, and Paste.

First lets try copying and pasting from a text box. I have made a text box below, with words from which you are going to copy from. I have also made a blank text box, to where you are going to paste the words that you have copied.

First off go to the text box, you should see a green or yellow outline around the box. Then hit your "return" key. You should see a cursor blinking. Next you want to highlight the text to be copied, to do this hold down your "cmd" key and then tap once on your "A" key, this should highlight the text. Next hold down your "cmd" key and tap once on your "C" key, to copy the text. You should hear a little clicking noise if this has been done right

Now that you have the text copied, you want to paste it. I have a blank text box down below, what you want to do now is go to the box. You should see a green or yellow outline around the box, then hit your "return" key. You should see a blinking cursor in the box. Next hold down your "cmd" key and then tap once on your "V" key. The text that you have copied from the first box, should now also be in the second box.

Now that wasn't so hard now was it?? Now I am going to tell you how to copy text where you don't have a cursor, so you can copy something right off the middle of a page. I can't demonstrate this like I did the last time so here is what I want you to do. I am going to write a sentence down below that I want you to try an copy, you can paste it once again in the blank text box, underneath what you previously pasted. Alright here is your sentence

Shannon is showing me how to cut, copy, and paste!!

First of all to get this to work make sure the second text box cannot be seen on the screen, otherwise it won't work. Now what you want to do is hit your "find" key. It should bring a box up. Then type in the first word of the sentence, which would be Shannon. Then press find on page. Once you have done that Shannon should have been highlighted. Next hold down your "shift" key and start tapping your "right arrow" key, until you have copied the rest of the sentence. After you have done that the rest of the sentence should be highlighted. Next hold down your "cmd" key and tap once on your "C" key to copy it. Then go to the text box again, and hit your "return" key, that should bring up the cursor. Then hold down your "cmd" key and then tap once on your "V" key, to paste the sentence in the box.

Sometimes when you use your find key to copy and paste, there is already the first word you want somewhere else on the page, in that case type the first few words of what you want to copy.
