Q- How did you get this job at ShopNBC?
A- At the time I was back in school part time and working part time. I was anxious to get started on a career in advertising when one night my friend Joe called. There was an ad in the paper for this new shopping channel that was having auditions. I really didn’t think I had much of a chance since I wasn’t the typical “stud” you see on television but I went anyway. I learned there were 100 other people auditioning so I didn’t hold out much hope. The audition was “sell” either a telephone or a blue topaz bracelet to the camera. I chose the phone. After a few minutes I was asked to sell the bracelet, now I was thinking “I must be doing O.K.”. Most of the people auditioning were in and out of the room rather quickly. I was taking a while. Anyway, did the bracelet, “don’t call us we’ll call you”, I leave. Not even a week later I get a call asking if I’ll come in for a live second audition. I did, 90 minutes of audition later I was asked if I want the job. Rest is history!
Q- What’s your favorite thing to sell?
A- Tough one, sometimes it just depends on the day. Certainly I enjoy the watch shows but my interests extend far beyond just that. I’ve always enjoyed the computer shows because there’s always new technology coming out and so there’s always something new to learn. I love the gemstone jewelry shows because (almost) every gemstone is beautiful and I’m really proud of the variety we get to see. Again styles always change to the ever-changing nature of gemstone jewelry always keeps me interested.
Q- Where are your clothes from? Are they for sale?
A- second question first. No, ShopNBC does not sell my wardrobe. My suits are coming from Marshall Fields. I have one suit from designer MondoDiMarco, which was my favorite for years but the line, was purchased by another designer in 2001 and discontinued. The newer are from Mani and Dolce & Gabbana, which has become my new favorite. The European cut suit is from J. Lindeberg and my two suits with the bold stripes are Paul Smith My shirts and ties come, mainly, from Thomas Pink .
Q- What are your hobbies?
A- Hobbies? I’m the most boring person in the world. Seriously I’m most content doing anything relaxing. I can sit in front of my computer, either with something work related or for fun, and the hours fly buy. I just got XM satellite radio for my home, which I STRONGLY encourage everyone to get. I rarely watch TV so this is just awesome! I love searching the Internet for new additions to my collections of watches, coins, and Vegas casino-hotel items. I dabble in video games but, as I mentioned elsewhere, I rarely complete those long RPG (role playing games). When I do venture out there are some awesome parks and lakes in Minneapolis I love walking around.
Q- You keep mentioning your top five watches, what are they?
A- The watches I personally wear the most are currently my Android Icon, Android Diamond Skeletonized, Corum Bubble, my one Lochman I bought in Washington DC, and my Invivta Lupah.
It's tough to pick just five. I have so many Androids I love, plus of course Invicta, and Croton which has become one of my most acquired watch brands recently. These are just the current hot watches. I mention this because my first Philip watch is on it's way. This is what I've been waiting for so I'm sure it will break my top 5 very quickly.
Q- Do you have a myspace page?
A- I certainly do, just search my name.
