...or, what you need to know about
aquiring a puppy from us!
Adding a dog, of any breed,
to your family is a huge committment of time, money and effort. Before contacting
any breeder, please be sure you are ready and willing to make that committment for the
life of the dog you choose. To purchase or adopt a dog, and then decide you do not
have time for it, or its too difficult to train, or you cannot afford to care for it
properly, is cruel to the dog, and denies another family the joy of owning that puppy.
We breed very infrequently; there is usually a waiting list for puppies. If you
think you may be interested in adding one of our puppies to our family, contact us and we
will place you on our waiting list.
A little about our puppies...
All of the puppies at Xtacee Cardigans and Rhapsody Great Danes are born and raised in our
home. They are handled frequently from day one. We use an early stimulation
program to help the puppies to be able to deal well with stress and changes in their
environments. All puppies are exposed to children, cats and other dogs, as well as
different sounds and surroundings as soon as they are up and around.
All puppies are sold on a contract; that contract varies somewhat with the breed of dog
and the plans you have for a puppy. In general, companion quality puppies are sold
on a limited registration with a spay-neuter clause; show prospects may have other
restrictions. We will be happy to send you a copy of our contract.
All puppies are sold to approved homes only. This means that we will send you a
questionaire to complete and return to us with references. We will verify the
references, and arrange for a time for you to meet us, and for us to interview you.
Again, there are some differences in requirements for Great Danes and Cardigan Welsh
Corgis, which we will be happy to discuss with you.
All puppies are guaranteed against hereditary and temperament defects that would render
them unfit for life as a family companion. Please note that we do not guarantee show
quality or that any particular dog will complete his or her championship. There are
many considerations that must be met in achieving that goal, and we strongly believe that
no breeder can guarantee show quality at 8-10 weeks of age; the age that is optimal
for placing puppies in new homes.
All puppies are vaccinated to the proper age, following current AVMA recommendation.
All puppies are tested and dewormed as required, and will recieve a complete
Veterinary exam prior to leaving our home. Purchasers are required to have the puppy
examined by the Veterinarian of their choice within 72 hours of taking their puppy home.
No puppies may leave our home before 8 weeks of age.
We do not ever place muliple puppies from the same litter in any home. We do not
allow our puppies to be "kennel dogs". We do not place puppies in homes
with very young children or where a baby is expected. We do not place puppies in
homes that do not have fenced yards. We require that the new owner attend
kindergarten puppy training and/or basic obedience training classes before the puppy
reaches one year of age.
We do not mean to be difficult. We feel our puppies are an extension of our family,
and we want the best possible homes for them. Our dogs have brought a tremendous
amount of joy to our lives, and we want the new owners to enjoy their new puppies as much
as we do! We owe it to our puppies to do our best to insure they have a loving home
and a long, healthy life.
Thank you for your interest in Xtacee Cardigan Welsh Corgis and Rhapsody Great Danes.
