Vietnam - May, 2000
In May of 2000 I went to Vietnam for a vacation. At the time I was living in China and this was my way of getting away. It turned out that not only were we there for May day but we were also in Saigon for the 30th anniversary of the fall of South Vietnam. It was adventurous to say the least. One of the odd anecdotes is the street games being played in the celebration. The games were "war" related. The one that stands out in my mind was the "avoid the landmine" game. It was stepping between string with bells hung on them. Vietnam was an incredible country to visit. It is exceptionally beautiful. One of the most enchanting episodes of my life was in a rubber tree plantation. If an Elf popped up I would not have been surprised.
