Famous London Pubs
Well what can I say about London Pubs, there are (at the last count) 1,758 and sorry to say I have not been in them all. The majority are chains pubs like the Wetherspoons, but there are a few that have a bit of history to them, for what happened there or who drunk there. I have with my friend Brian Edwards compiled a list of the top ten that are a must to visit.
6) Prospect of Whitby: One of the most famous pubs in London, this is a place you have to visit, beautiful view of the Thames, one of my favourite's of the 10 ( Nearest station Wapping )
.7) Sherlock Holmes: Even though he was a fictitious character this pub is a must, they even have a room set out like it was in the Victorian era ( Nearest station Charing Cross ).
8) Ten Bells: This pub was also known as Jack the Ripper, the victims of the Ripper all lived near the pub and supposedly drank there (nearest station Aldgate East )
.9) Dickens Inn: Nothing very special about this, but the location is awesome, situated on St Katharine's Dock its a perfect place to rest after a day at the Tower of London and Tower Bridge (Nearest Station Tower Hill).
10) The Lamb and Flag: The oldest pub in Covent garden and a contender for the oldest in London, used to be called the bucket of blood, due to the bare fist fighting that took place there (Nearest Station Covent Garden).
