Rules of Play
Rules are meant to be bent, not broken.

1. Conduct.

2. How to play the game, in brief.

Rules of Engagement.
To shoot or not to shoot, is that the question?

3. Legal Targets.

It's okay to attack and attempt to kill these people.

If you attack anyone who isn't describe in the above, they are innocent and that will get you put on the wanted list.

The following places are out of bounds. This means that you cannot kill anyone in these places. Doing so will result you being put on the wanted list.

Additionally, no ranged weapons are to be used in libraries, computer labs, and any other room containing things easily damaged by water or flying objects.

4. Legal Weapons.

In general, weapons should not make a mess, cause harm, cause bodily or property damage, but they should inform people that they have been killed. All weapons must obviously be weapons (i.e. banana, piece of knife-shaped cardboard, etc., must be VERY CLEARLY labelled). If you aren't sure about the validity of your weapon, ask the game organizer first - otherwise, your attempt may be discounted. Body parts or hair cannot be labelled as weapons. Actual utensils cannot be used as weapons. To score a kill, the target must be hit in the torso - limb and head shots don't count (garrotes being an obvious exception to this, as they must be applied in a very particular way). There are no shields in this game, and clothing, bags and weaponry will not block incoming shots. This means that if you are hit in the back while carrying a backpack, and the shot would have hit your body had you not been wearing it, you are dead. Weapons may likewise not block shots and so hits to your weapon may count as having hit your body if they would otherwise have done so. Melee weapons, however, may block melee weapons, so as to allow for awesome sword fights without the lameness of people using huge weapons as shields. No poisioning or indirect methods of killing- go kill your own targets.

If you have weapons that look like they could be real, like squirt guns and that sort of paraphernalia, make sure they are brightly colored so they aren't mistaken for real. We'd be in a lot of trouble for that.

Also, you can use any sort of ruse to capture and kill your target, but there are somethings that you can't do.

Non-players are not allowed to attack or kill anyone, nor should they be used as decoys. If you convince a non-player to act as such and the non-player is killed, you will be held responsible for their death, and you will be made wanted. Non-players are allowed to provide information, spread misinformation, help in planning, assist in the procurement or manufacture of weapons, or similar activities.

5. Reporting.
Like writing a paper, only a lot more fun. And BS'ing IS allowed!

Whenever you are involved in any assassins-related incident, such as successfully or unsuccessfully trying to kill another player or innocent, being attacked or killed or witnessing a killing, you should inform the game organizer at shuassassins@gmail.com as soon as you can.

Reports of the game's events will be published on the website during the game. Reports are encouraged to be dramatic and creative and may also be intentionally misleading (although outright lying is frowned upon). However, if your report is sufficiently outlandish to make it unclear what actually happened, please explain the raw facts separately to the game organizer, as he/she would like to know what's going on.

If you don't know exactly what happened, call for a "time out" or "discussion phase" with the other players involved in order to clarify who was hit, who died, etc. In general, all players involved should submit a report of every incident; this way the game organizer can correlate the reports and so ensure that the news is updated as quickly as possible. Players cannot kill one another while doing this, although please try to avoid exposing yourself to any entirely different assassins who might happen to be passing.

Pseudonyms.

Public Killings.

6. ...So,You're Dead.

Dead players should esentially act as non-players, but refrain from seriously affecting the game. In particular, dead players should not act as accomplices, however they may point assassins out, or pass on any information they have to other players unless it concerns the incident in which they died. Players may not get dead players to open doors for them in the same way they shouldn't get non players to do so.

7. The Wanted List.

Any players who break these rules, such as by killing or endangering innocent victims, may be declared to be "wanted". The names of all wanted criminals will be put up on the website along with their addresses and pseudonyms. Anyone on the wanted list is a valid target for anyone else in the game. If a person on the wanted list does something good for society, like eliminate a few other assassins, then they may be taken off the list at the organizer's discretion.

8. Incompetence.

Any players who do not make any attempts for a period of four days will be posted on the website, including their real name, their pseudonym(s), and where to find them. Incompetent players are legal targets to all players. Once a player makes a reported attempt, successful or unsuccessful, they are removed from the list. An attempt can include anywhere from actually killing your target, to a confrontation with them, to lurking after them. Basically, any time when you reasonably expect to kill your target, you're making an attempt.

Whew, enough with the rules. So who runs this joint?
9. The Game Organizer.

The organizer of the current game is Andrea Perkins. She can be reached at shuassasssins@gmail.com.

You can also stop by her room, if for some reason the network is down or whatever. She lives in 310 Brownlee Hall, and furthermore wishes that you don't kill people in her room, however hilarious that may be.

Any attempts to steal things from the organizer, hack the website or her computer are forbidden.

The game organizer is not playing, and any attempts on her life will put you on the wanted list. However, she does wish to play at some point and any one interested in running the game can and should contact her as well.
