I doodled comics when I was seven. In the
beginning I did it because I admired my uncles (Juan and Macho)
who had a comic style. But then later it became a little bit
more serious when I was 16. During that time I was trying
to develop a "American" comic style, but I was never happy
with it. Later my best friend introduced me to Ranma ½, a
comic from Japan. Its comic book style was something different
to me. And that's when my whole world turned upside down.
Ever since then I've combined my style of both Manga and American
comic books.
When I graduated Art and Design High School,
I enrolled in The Fashion Institute of Technology, where I
received my Bachelors in fine arts, majoring in Illustration.
I learned most of my PhotoShop skills while
at a part-time job, where I collaborated with the designer
on patterns for scarves. The skills I learned there helped
me excel in F.I.T.'s computer classes.
I admire way too many guys and gals in this
business of entertainment. So lets just say I love and am
inspired by all things that are Sci-fi/Fantasy action adventure.
So far I'm in the process of developing a
submission for Antarctic-press and for Radio Comix. More than
anything I wish to have a career in the comic book industry.
I'll keep trying until I get my big break.
So here's to the struggling artist.
