Saint Seiya OVA "Meio Hades~Ju-ni Kyu Hen~" consists of 13 episodes, with episode 1 was first aired on 9 November 2002. The entire OVA episodes were showed through ANIMAX, one of the cable channels on SKY PerfecTV, with pay-per-view system. The production staff for this OVA are: Hiroyuki Sakuda (Planning), Michiko Yokote (Series Constructor), Seiji Yokoyama (Music), Yoichi Shimizu (Production Controller), Yasuo Kawase (CG Director), Takeshi Fukuda (Digital Imaging), Yukiko Ijima & Shinzo Yuki (Art Design), Kunio Tsujita (Colouring), Shingo Araki & Michi Himeno (Character Design), Shingo Araki (Animation Director), Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Series Director), and Michiko Yokote & Fumiya Fujii (Script).
Referring to its sub-title, "Ju-ni Kyu Hen" (12 Temples Chapter), the 13 episodes cover only the story in which the setting takes place in the 12 Temples in Sanctuary, while the whole Hades Chapter (as it is in the manga) has three stages: Sanctuary, Underworld and Elision. This is because this Hades OVA is only a "trial" project after the last Saint Seiya anime project was released 10 years before.
Because of the great success of "Ju-ni Kyu Hen", Toei finally made the second stage, "Meio Hades~Meikai Hen~" which covers the Bronze Saints' adventures in the Underworld/Meikai. Commemorating Saint Seiya's 20 years of 'existence', this second OVA has 6 episodes; the first one being broadcast on 17 December 2005. However, the 20th anniversary was kind of 'contaminated'. For the first time in Saint Seiya's history, Athena's and the 5 main Bronze Saints' voice talents are substituted by new casts.
