"SICB AIDS EDUCATION FOR TEENAGERS" Workshops
Since the launch of the SICB AIDS EDUCATION FOR TEENAGERS PROJECT, SICB has made positive changes in the lives of many adolescents through the many workshops conducted by volunteer facilitators. Apart from conducting the workshops in schools, SICB has also shared the project with other SI Clubs and NGOs with the hope to reach out to more teenagers nationwide.

1996, the Project Convenor attended a Counselors Training Workshop on AIDS Education for Youth in Kunming, Yunna, China. The training was organised for the Red Cross International by China Women's National Council. Subsequently, the SICB AIDS Education For Teenagers workshops were held in Beijing and Inner Mongolia for students from middle schools and undergraduates from universities and medical colleges. The project was also shared with local organizations and NGOs, namely the Chamber of Trade Commerce, Sisterhoold Teahouse Centre and others. With their strong interests to adopt the project, a facilitators training workshop was conducted in Beijing in 2002 by SICB. |

Recognising the importance of parental guidance to the young, SICB has extended the project into another level where workshops were conducted for parents on HIV/AIDS and Sex education. Many parents, though concerned of HIV/AIDS issues, are lack of knowledge, skills and techniques needed to deal with their inquisitive children. The Parents Workshops aimed to provide accurate information and knowledge
to parents on how to guide their children on the HIV/AIDS and sex related
issues. |

These were conducted for women only, sometimes behind closed doors to ensure full privacy.Women from all background discuss openly on HIV/AIDS and sex related issues during these sessions. | ||

Since year 2000, SICB had been working with Kolej Zaba, University Malaya on organizing an AIDS conference. The Conference is open to undergraduates participants from universities/ colleges in Malaysia.

Since the launch of the AIDS project, SICB is often handicapped by the
constraints of limited trained In order to sustain and carry out the project more effectively, SICB
has committed to organize To date, SICB has organized numerous such training in the hope that the AIDS Project will reach further and create a bigger impact in the country.
