Vans Warped Tour, 06.29.01
When I arrived at the Coliseum after a short walk from my house, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't’t enjoy last years Warped Tour and was a bit skeptical about huge festivals such as this. I made my way to one of the side stages and saw Agent 51, a band from San Diego, which turned out to be pretty good. Soon after they finished their set, the stage right next to theirs began to gather a crowd. The guys ripping it up on the stage were Sugarcult, a band I had never heard of but would definitely be hearing more of as time passed. Their music was full of energy and made me want to jump around, plus the foursome that made up Sugarcult weren’t so bad looking either. Tim drove all the screaming girls crazy as he belted out such songs as “Daddy’s Little Defect” and “Bouncing Off the Walls”. His smile made the sweltering hot weather rise to triple digits. Even more amazing was the way Ben pulled off the challenge of beating away at the drums as he backed up Tim during the chorus. Out of the dozen bands that I saw that day, the best was without a doubt Sugarcult.
The guys hung out at their merch booth after their set so I went to say hi. I only recognized Tim and Marko and I couldn’t for the life of me remember what the other two looked like. I took a picture with them and had Marko sign my shirt. Tim saw it and said “Oh two can play at this game” so he signed it too. They were both funny and beyond nice. Besides the sever sunburn that I suffered and the blisters I got from my shoes, the Vans Warped Tour was an event that I’m glad I didn’t miss.

City Walk , 07.25.01
I dragged my brother out to this one last minute, mainly because I didn’t want to take the Metro and risk getting there late. We ended up getting there just as they were finishing up the first song; I can’t remember right now which one it is but you should be able to find the set list with the pictures from this show. Anyway, I zigzagged my way through the small crowd to get a better view.

Troubadour, 09.05.01
w/ Brightlife and others
This was the record release party and since I had seen them before at City Walk and had kept in touch with Ben though email, he knew who I was so that was cool. It was also the beginning of our friendship you might say.

Street Scene, 09.09.01
w/ The Offspring, P.O.D., Long Beach Dub All Stars, Outkast
Ah sunny San Diego. I should mention my friends suck and are losers and none of them wanted to go with me to the Street Scene. I wasn’t going to miss seeing my two favorite bands, The Offspring and Sugarcult, all on one stage so I hopped on the Amtrak BY MYSELF. Keep in mind I’ve only been to SD once when I was like 10 and it was for Sea World. So I get there and find my way to the stage. Sugarcult rocked and so did The Offspring. P.O.D were pretty cool to. Overall the show rocked. After The Offspring, I went to go find the guys and found Ben. I had a picture to give him with a note telling him thanks for emailing me.

Rebelpalloza, 04.05.02
Vegas baby! Vegas! I know you’re probably thinking I went to Vegas just for Sugarcult. Although I am capable of doing such a thing, that is not the case. My architecture frat (it’s co-ed) was having its annual convention in Vegas and I figured hey might as well go see Sugarcult while I’m there. So my pledge bro and fellow Sugarcult fanatic, Monica, and I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a taxi to take us out to the middle of nowhere, also known as the UNLV campus.

Trinity Hall, 04.26.02
w/ Army of Freshmen, Fairveiw
Now if you’ve ever been to Trinity Hall for a show or even a dance, then you know how small and stuffy the place is. Although I enjoy going to concerts at small bars and halls such as Trinity, it isn’t so great when the stage is up to just bellow your knees.

Troubadour, 06.22.02
w/ Death On Wednesday Audio Karate, Army of Freshmen, Lo Ball
It had been almost a year since I first heard of Sugarcult. The past year I saw the crowds get bigger and the fans get wilder. This was by far the craziest Sugarcult show I had been to. The guys had just finished up some dates in the East Coast and a crazy girl some of you may know as Sydney or Sari, had seen them 3 times and headed out to Cali where she would meet up with me for another 3 more shows. I’m not being random by mentioning this, you’ll see that she plays an important role at Sugarcult shows so read on.

HOB, Anaheim, 06.24.02
w/ Death On Wednesday, Audio Karate, Army Of Freshmen
HOB doesn't allow cameras! Biggest disappointment of the night.

The Scene, 07.13.02
w/ Off By One, Death On Wednesday, Agent 51
This was to be my final show with Sydney “The sign girl from Connecticut”. It was a last minute thing so we had our good friend Ernest put us on the guest list. I never knew it would be so hard getting to SD. All of our plans for trasportation fell through. We left my house at 10am but didn't actually leave LA till 2pm. It was hell. By the time we got to the venue, I didn't even want to be there anymore. It was small, cramoed, and hot. I didn't get a good spot or view and my pictures were crap. What was worse is I didn't know how I was getting home to be at work the next morning.
Now as for the bands, DOW and Sugarcult were great. OB! were ok, and I didn't enjoy Agent 51 much. They did someth9ing with fire if I remember correctly which sucked because it just made the place hotter. Tim had just gotten a haircut, different but nice. Marko was rockin the pink Chucks! My monkey got some attention and I was completly soaked in fluids.

The Palace, 08.17.02
w/ Less Than Jake, Yellowcard
I was thinking about skipping this show to hang out with my friends since I hadn’t really been able to, I work to damn much. In the end, I decided to go and for reasons that are better left unsaid, I’m glad I did!!!

Cal Poly Week Of Welcome, 08.20.02 w/ Ozomatli and some local band who obviously wasn't good enough to remember..
Sugarcult on campus and only WOWies can go?! I don't think so! I made a few calls and wrote a few emails and got on the guest list. I promoted the show and Sugarcult all day handing out stickers at Club day. Moni, Moni's friend Rowena and I got to the Rec Center

The Coach House, 10.30.02 w/ The Ataris, The Go Reflex, Break Dance Vietnam...
Sometimes I wonder why I go through so much trouble to see Sugarcult. I've seen them like a dozen times and pretty much now their on stage rutine, but still I go. This time I took the Greyhound by myself again, not knowing where the hell the Coach House was.

The Palace, 12.12.02 w/ The Ataris, The Go Reflex, Rufio...
Road trip! I was in SLO still and weeks before I get a message from a fellow Cal Poly student offering me a ride to the show. She seemed cool so I accepted. When she picked me up that morning, we hit it of and it was as if we had known each other already. I soon found out that we were getting Kristing from LAX and Carolyn from Union Station, none of them had ever met. Basically we were all strangers to eaxh other. By the time we get to the show, we had time to get aquaited and share a few stories over chicken and waffles at Roscoes. We did a little dancing in the Palace parking lot and a little tourism with Kristin who was in search of Stars on the Walk of Fame. As she searched for stars, I littered the walls with Sugarcult stickers.
The Go Reflex was fun. I thought Bob was going to break that poor piano and it would come flying towards us since we were right in front of him. Luckily none of that happend. He did lose his glasses though. Rufio took the stage but we were all busy suffering from smashed boobs to care. I wasn't familiar with anything of theirs so I didn't pay too much attention. Sugarcult came on and did their thing but not before Marko decided to spit beer on us. Thanks. Kenny was filling in for Ben. Being that Christmas was just around the corner, they played "Here Comes Santa Clause". I threw stickers into the crowd. Marko fell on Martha and I as I was putting film in my camera. He broke Martha's camera but it got fixed later. We left after their set and went upstairs to the patio. We hung out at the balcony for The Ataris which by the way were awesome. They broke a few things and lit stuff on fire, so I heard since I was I don't know where.
After the show we talked to the guys and Kristin had gifts for them. We went on our way back to SLo after dropping Carolyn off. On the way we enjoyed Rockstars and Rockstar stains, chain smoking, a smoking raindeer, Santa Clause doing 80 on the 101, and of couse a near death experience with a train.

Slims, 12.13.02 w/ The Ataris, The Go Reflex, Rufio...
For our drive up to SF it was pouring which made for a dangerous and extended trip. We get there and I went to get my tickets since I was on THE LIST. Haha watch out. I tell the lady my name and she says I'm not on there. I'm about to freak out when she finds my name on a different list. Close call. We chill outside for a bit and my friend Brendy ends up buying a ticket off some dude. Just before we go inside we see Airin so we get a picture with him and his bomb-diggity light-up blue pen. When we finally get in, Rufio is about to take the stage (we missed The Go Reflex) but I dont feel like being in the front so me and Monica move to the back. At this time Kristin and Martha are MIA since they stayed outside for a cig. Sugarcult takes the stage and Moni and I return to the pit and end up finding Martha and Kristin. It gets crazy and a confrentation starts between Kristin and some chick in front of her. I get to her to late to prevent her from being punched and so we have to leave. Sugarcult were barely in their 4th song or so. I took Kritin in the bathroom to clean her up. The heat of the pit and the fight made her all dizzy and she got sick so we went outside and that's where we stayed pretty much for the remainder of the night.
While we were outside, The Ataris had a male stripper come out and entertain the Sugarcult boys. They were also creamed with pies and such.
Despite all that happened that night, we all still had fun. We chilled outside making fun of certain people and improving our new language. Hehe
