My family helped a lot in improving my language skill, due to their strong background in English and French…My mother was a university lecturer who finished in UK and Switzerland …
I also worked on translations from English and French to Arabic, and vice versa. I translated scientific books, still to be published…
I am a member of the Iraqi Translators Society (recognized by the International Translation Society) … and Passed all the examinations required for a license to work as a professional Translator.
With computers I started at the age of 13 - at that time there were only Z-80 PCs . I started making small programs in classical basic and assembly for educational purposes. I also joined teams of amateur programmers for Alamiyah (Iraq Branch).
When I entered college, Industrial and Computer electronics were part of my studies. Additionally I took specialized training in 8080 processors, trouble shooting, networks, and general maintenance.
As for programming, I used to use qbasic, through which I designed the software required for my MSc thesis, then I switched to visual basic, which I am still using now as an interface for multimedia and educational software design…
My firm in Baghdad was in the field of Software and graphic design for multi training purposes. We had various contracts with UNDP-Iraq, and with other consulting, academic, and development projects in Iraq during the period (1992-1995). I still work independently in software design within the same field.
As for design, I am acquainted with Power Point, Corel 6, Adobe photoshop 4, Adobe premier, Designer, Painter, Bryce, 3D-Studio Max, and somehow in Illustrator. I have used these for different purposes ranging from , graphic design through publishing, animated presentations, to Information systems, media and packaging. I worked independently and with others. I also worked as a trainer and instructor of design software privately and with training centers in various establishments ( Philadelphia, Al-Taj Centers, both in Amman; Al-Nour, and Al-Beit Al-Iraqi, Baghdad). I led student teams in Lab and Research work while I had teaching posts in the University and various schools (Saddam University, Baghdad International school, and Amman Academy).
1975-1982: Primary Education :
Between (Hill House) Schools in London (UK) and May Private Schools Iraq…then finished the primary school baccalaureate with a score of (550/600)
1982-1988: Junior High and High School Education :
I got enrolled in Baghdad College High School for boys-an educational institution established originally by American Jesuits in Iraq-and regarded to be of very high standard. There I participated in cultural and scientific activities held by the school and outside. I showed talent in the sciences and computer. Finished Junior High with a score of 560/600. A year later I sat privately for 2 subjects in the GCE (physics and math) and managed to pass them both with an average of B.
In 1988, I graduated from High school with a baccalaureate score of (579/600) (from the top 25 students in the country). Then I continued my studies in the field of physics, which I chose out of curiosity concerning the world around us.
1988-1992: University Education:
I was admitted to the Department of Physics, College of Science, University of Baghdad automatically that year. At the same time a new highly qualified University was established to give a small number of highly talented students a higher level of education (Saddam University). Thus I applied to it at the same time. We had visiting professors from Germany, the UK, the USA, Poland, India and Czechoslovakia. We were only 12 admitted, and only four (whom I was ranking always at the top) managed to graduate. I graduated with an honor degree and an average of 80.59% for four years and 94% for the final year.
During my undergraduate studies I participated in Workshops, Seminars, Research groups held in the university and outside. In summer, 1990 I was invited by Prof. Munir Nayfeh to visit the Department of Physics, at the University of Illinois with a group of postgraduate students, a mission could not be achieved due to gulf war crisis. I participated under supervision of my professors in planing the suitable course foundations and Lab preparations for BSc. Physics degree in Saddam university and participated in the development of teaching standard for the basic Sciences in Baghdad College High School, in addition to other academic and cultural activities inside the university and outside.
My final year dissertation was on the 'Construction and investigation of a double back reflector antenna' with Professor R. Al-Rashid who is residing now in Libya. I even published a paper on the project, and now working on a second.
1992-1994: Graduate Studies:
During this period I switched my studies from applied Physics and communication to theoretical physics and modeling in Saddam university, with the software used completely design by me using the Quick Basic compiler. I worked, under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Hammadi Mohammed, on the "Spectral Shift Calculation of some Diatomic Molecules in Noble Gas Crystals". I had a degree of excellence for the type of work and the final oral exam. During that time I worked as an assistant lecturer in the same university where I taught physics 001 and 002 and analytical mechanics 101 and 102 and took tutorials in molecular physics for the senior undergraduate students.
At that time I also published on backfire antennas, published in the Journal of the Islamic Academy of Science, Jan. 1994.I also participated in the 10th conference of Math and Physics society, in a paper on the same subject.
In addition to the experience I gained through university lecturing, I also taught in private high schools. I taught
Physics for the IGCSE O-level and A-level. That experience was in during the years:
1-1995-1996
The Baghdad International Baghdad School, Baghdad-Iraq. An experience I will never forget, that really enriched my teaching capabilities, and methods of training.
