There are many codes and secrets in Marvel vs Capcom.   You can select any helper you want and even secret helpers!  You can fight against secret characters and even select them!

Helpers

Note - Secret helper characters are surrounded with stars(*).  With all of these codes, you must hold START along with the buttons shown here.  To get explanations of what each helper does when you call them, go here.

Secret Characters

You can play as secret characters and you can fight against them as well.  So far, there are 6 secret characters known. 

Gold War Machine

No, not Iron Man, but gold War Machine.  This character is cool!  He has War Machine's moves and Mega Zangief's armor!   However, just like Mega Zan, he can't block either!  Damn Marvel copyright!

1. Start the game (duh!)

2. Move the cursor to Zangief

3. Move the cursor in these directions:
   L, L, D, D, R, R, D, D, L, L, U, U, U, U, R, R, L, L, D, D, D, D, R, R, U, U, L, L, D, D, R, R, U, U, U, U, U

4. Gold War Machine's picture will apear above Zangief's.

Red Venom

He is a LOT faster than Venom and has a complete ground chain.  He even has some different special moves.  However,  he takes damage like a complete wuss!  Don't be nailed by a super while with him!

1. Start the game (duh!)

2. Move the cursor to Chun Li

3. Move the cursor in these directions:
   R, D, D, D, D, L, U, U, U, U, R, R, D, D, L, L, D, D, R, R, U, U, U, U, L, L, U

4. Carnage's picture should appear above Chun Li's

Roll

Megaman's sister doesn't want Megaman to have all the spotlight!  She has totally different animations from Megaman (yay!) and she plays a little differently from him as well. 

1. Start the game (duh!)

2. Move the cursor to Zangief

3. Then move the cursor in these directions:
   L, L, D, D, R, R, D, D, L, L, U, R, U, U, R, R

4. Roll's picture should appear next to Megaman's

Orange Hulk

Just a pallete swap of the hulk.  However, he can do a five hit combo in the air.  He is a lot faster than regular Hulk but he lacks the super armor!  His supers kick ass but his regular moves have been somewhat toned down...

1. Start the game (duh!)

2. Move the cursor to Chun Li

3. Then move the cursor in these directions:
   R,R,D,D,L,L,R,R,D,D,L,L,U,U,U,U, D,D,R,R,U,U,D,D,D,D,U,U,U,U,L,U

4. Orange Hulk's picture should appear above Ryu's

Shadow Lady

First Charlie, now Chun Li!  In this mode, Chun Li is very powerful, as her supers and other moves take off a LOT of damage.  However, her supers are not as comboable...

2. Move the cursor to Morrigan

3. Then move the cursor in these directions: 
   U, R, R, D, D, D, D, L, L, U, U, U, U, R, R, L, L, D, D, R,
   R, D, D, L, L, U, U, R, R, U, U, L, L, D, D, D, D, D

4. Shadow Lady's picture should appear beneath Gambit's.

Lilith

Lilith has freed herself from Morrigan and can now fight as herself!  Personally, I think this character is a waste as Morrian has better moves.   Lilith doesn't even have the Eternal Slumber!  And her Soul Eraser super takes off like no damage!  Here is her code anyway.

1. Start the game (duh!).

2. Move the cursor to Zangief.

3. Then move the cursor in these directions:
   L, L, D, D, R, R, U, U, D, D, D, D, L, L, U, U, U, U, R, L, D, D, D, D, R, R, U, U, U, U, L, L, D, D, D, D, R, D

4. Lilith's picture will appear beneath War Machine's.

Hidden Challengers

For all of these, you must keep your partner alive.   Neither character can be defeated.

Gold War Machine

• Get 2 Two on One Finishes before moving on to stage 6.

Carnage

• Get the First Attack bonus every battle. Also, switch your character lineup for each battle.

• Get 2 Two on One Finishes and 1 Helper Character Finish before moving on to stage 6.

Roll

• Use your Helper Character at least once per battle.

• Get 2 Two on One Finishes and 1 Helper Character Finish before moving on to stage 6.

Orange Hulk

• Get 2 Two on One Finishes and 2 Hyper Combo Finishes before moving on to stage 6.

Shadow Lady

• Switch your character lineup during the first battle.

• Use your Helper Character at least once per battle.

• Get 1 Helper Character Finish.

• Get 5 Two on One Finishes.

Lilith

• Use your Helper Character at least once per battle.

• Get 2 Two on One Finishes and 1 Helper Character Finish before moving on to stage 6.

Miscellaneous Tricks

Change Character Lineup
Press and hold all three Punches during the 'vs.' screen in order to change the lineup (2nd chosen character is now first up). You can repeat this code again to reset the lineup.

Beat up a Beaten Opponent
After killing your last opponent with any move except for a Variable Combo or Variable Cross, you can press START to move around and attack your opponent using normal attacks, special moves, even Hyper Combos!  However, some characters have win poses that prevent them from using this trick.  This is like the oldest trick in the book!
