This editor is great for those of you who are new to making web pages and
don't have any clue about the HTML language.
A simple and easy to use Editor that allows you to type text
into the boxes provided and choose from a wide variety
of graphics that you want to put on your page.
The editor will automatically generate the correct HTML code. Once you begin to understand abit of the HTML language, you can begin to include it in the <BODY> and <FOOTER> boxes.
It is a good idea to first create your index.html document, save it and then spend time adding other specifics to it.
Once it is saved it will appear at your address and remove the 'haven't moved in page' (also shows you have moved in to avoid deletion of your site).
If you have FTP'd a file called index.html to your directory, then
you will have to use the advanced editor for this and subsequent edits.
How do I get to it?
Above is what you will see on the 'File Manager' Directory page.
- You need to 'Select' the 'Basic HTML Editor' from the options.
- Click on 'Edit' (to edit a document) or 'Create new HTML File' (to create a new file).
- This will then give you a page which will be your 'Basic HTML Editor'.
But it says I can't use this editor because the index.html was created with the 'Advanced Editor'! |
Not a problem, do this instead:
- check the little box next to "index.html".
- scroll down and click on 'delete'.
- confirm the deletion (you will probably get a message like "if you delete this file you will have no index.html etc...") - don't worry about that, just confirm the deletion and your page will be refreshed.
- now select the "Basic HTML Editor".
- click on "Create new HTML file".
- this will be your index.html file, so just follow the instructions and when you have finished, save it as index.html (all letters in lowercase)
- now go to your URL address and click 'reload' or 'refresh' on your browser and you should see what you have created!
