OTHER BROWSERS AND CONFIGURING THE FTP CLIENT
For users of other 'Browsers', here are a couple of FTP Clients available for download on the Internet.
These will have their own instructions of how to set it up and use.
CONFIGURATION
This following information will be entered:
- "Host" = "ftp.geocities.com"
- "User or Login ID field" = Your GeoCities Member Name
- "Password" field = Your GeoCities Password
- Connect to Geocities.
- the directory (/pub/members/tools) will be displayed. This is the directory in which to transfer your files.
- Transfer your files exactly how you want them to appear in your directory.
- 'binary' or 'raw data' option should be used to transfer your non-text files (gif, jpg, zip etc...).
- 'ASCII' option should be used to transfer HTML and text files.
Once your files are transferred, you will not see them listed in the directory.
This is for security purposes.
PUBLISH SUPPORT?
GeoCities now supports the 'publish' function in the following:
WINDOWS
- Netscape Composer (part of Netscape Communicator 4.0 package)
- FrontPage Express (part of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 package)
- HotDog Pro
- Netscape Gold Editor-Publisher
[NOTE: You may not see files other than the ones placed on the site via this program.]
- Microsoft FrontPage 98
[NOTE: For this program, be sure to put a leading slash ("/") on all file paths.
Also, FrontPage 98 creates subdirectories, for which you need a GeoPlus account to access.]
- Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard

MACINTOSH
- Claris Homepage 3.0
- Adobe PageMill 1.0 & 2.0
IMPORTANT NOTE: Some Web publishing tools will only "see" pages and files
that have been placed on the website using that tool.
