This page will give you some quick instructions on how to move in using the 'Basic HTML Editor'.
If you are wanting a more detailed solution, please go to this version of Moving In but if you want to make a quick-start using the Basic HTML Editor then continue reading.
(note: this part of the site is not supported by or an official/authorized part of Geocities. It is my interpretation of a user friendly way to move into your homepage)
QUICK STEPS
Follow these steps below to start working on your Homepage using the Geocities 'Basic HTML Editor'.
- first, go to the File Manager.
- now enter your member name and password that Geocities sent to you [make sure they are both in lower-case].
- the page will now refresh and you will be in the 'file manager/directory'.
- scroll down and check the little box next to "index.html".
- scroll down and click on 'delete'.
- confirm the deletion (you will probably get a message like "if you delete this file you will have no index.html etc...") - don't worry about that, just confirm the deletion and your page will be refreshed.
- scroll down until you see a 'select' box and then select the "Basic HTML Editor".
- click on "Create new HTML file".
- this will be your index.html file, so just follow the instructions and when you have finished, save it as index.html (all letters in lowercase)
- now go to your URL address and while holding down the 'shift' key on your keyboard, click 'reload' or 'refresh' on your browser and you should see what you have created!
This is just some quick steps to get you started.
If you want to learn more about what you can do with your Webpage such as uploading images, adding different things to your page and more - have a look at my site that I made with you in mind.
GOOD LUCK !!!
