PSST! Playstation Emulator
Wait a minute, this is NOT an emulator YET. The proyect is under research
stage because there are lots of information holes about the psx. However
most of the cpu instructions have been implemented and I'm planning to
write some more code to support the coprocessors.
As far as I know the psx has a MIPS R3000 cpu and three coprocessors called
MDEC, GTE and GPU. It also has 2Mb of RAM, 512Kb of ROM containing the bios,
some mapped memory to hardware ports, and additional 512Kb for the sound
processor.
A fast video dac and a double-speed cdrom unit completes this powerful
machine which main processor runs at 33Mhz.
I'm desperately looking for technical info on the psx. If you are a psx
game programmer or you have a good knowledge on it please drop me a note
so I can keep in touch with you.
