Mesa 3-D graphics library

This page last updated 07 Sept 2001.

Mesa is a graphics library that uses the OpenGL API. For more information, goto the The Mesa 3-D graphics library Homepage
You may ask "Why use the OpenGL API?". First, it is portable between different platforms. How about writing a program on (take your pick)DOS/WIN32/Mac/Unix and then compiling it on DOS/WIN32/Mac/Unix? You can with little or no changes. And second, OpenGL has been around a while and is mature (unlike the MS 3D API that keeps changing).

My precompiled dlls for Mesa can now be downloaded from Hawk Software

I would really like to rewrite the Allegro driver to use the optimized Allegro polygon routines, but it is low priority to me at this time.
The patch below defaults to 640 x 480 x 16 bit color. The 256 color indexed modes are broken, only hi/true color modes work.
