  Nettiquette is a a set of rules that people can use in a harmoniously in the Internet. (Partically in e-mail, chat, and newsgroups.)

Basic Rules:

  • Keep Messages short
  • ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS are considered shouting.
  • Criticize the idea, not the person.
  • Don't overreact to something you read online.
  • Don't ask anyone to disallow coversation on a topic that you found offensive.
  • Ask a question that applies to you in a newsgroup.
  • In e-mail, be cautious in replying messages from 2 or more people.
  • Don't send or reply a cross-post message.(Message sent to more than 1 newsgroup)
  • Put SPOILER, if you are giving a plot of movies, tv shows, or novels.
  • Put encryptions if your message is inappropriate.

  1. Follow Nettiquette!
  2. Use well known sites (ex: Amazon.com) to do your shopping.
  3. Free stuff, like free internet, usually consist of ads
  4. Know your modem speed. Faster is better, espically with downlad time.
  5. The person you're chatting with, it's probarly not what you think.
  6. Be aware of any computer virus.  It can disguise as a file, and when you open it up, the virus attacks.  Advice: avoid shady sites, or e-mails,  with questionable downloads.
  7. Use search Engines (ex: Yahoo!).if you don't know where something is located.
  8. Sometimes, you need plug-ins to view cetian stuff on the web.
  9. Web browsers will look at web pages differently that others. Something you see with one browser may be different with another.
  10. Surf RESPONSIBLY!!
