You can manually add newsgroups to your favourite unix (host) news reader, by altering the file .newsrc located in your home directory of your unix host.. Each line of .newsrc contains a newsgroup that you have subscribed to.Use your favourite editor to add some more lines with newsgroup names, instead of searching among the 5000+ proposed newsgroups using your reader to find the ones you are interested in.
