Internet Connection (ICON)

The service I received from ICON was top class. They have a 24 hour toll free help line, with prompt and friendly service. I was connected on the same day I called them, and even though their system was busy due to end of month, I was called back in an hour, gave my details over the phone, and had myself connected. ICON is a large ISP claiming a good user-to-modem ratio.
When you register with icon you get 2 Mb web space, 1 email, and unlimited internet access. This entitles ONE person to use that internet access. Considering that this ISP is on the higher price end, they could have made some arrangment with their users like IAFRICA has done.

The connection was always successful and I always got connected at the correct speed. Individual site download speeds, as well as average downloading speed is as it should be.

Kindly note that the rating for this ISP is not complete, there is still one more reading to follow, one for Saturday Afternoon, (Semi peek). Should be complete by next weekend.

However from what I have seen, it gets

Graph of off-peek time throughput (Saturday morning) BSP Speed Graph Saturday morning

Statistics Bits per second % of max
Maximum BPS 26613 92.4%
Minimum BPS 19559 69.9%
Average 24118 83.7%

Connecting to icon during the week
How slow can this thing go? It seems to me that at peak periods on Sunday as the Americans wake up, (2pm South African time, 8am in some American States) it can get quite slow. I got a shockingly low 5550 bits / second (19.27% of the bandwidth).
During the week at 7:30pm (Wednesday), the average rate was 11460 bps (39.79% of the bandwidth), which is an improvement over Sunday's rate for some strange reason.
