In the merry month of May, we took a break after stressing ofer the competition. We did some design work on a prototype hovercraft that will be built ofer the summer to prepare for the work on the tanks and to begin preparing software design. It has been decided that we will build four robots next year. One will be another prototype for the new competition robot. This will be used to assist software development and so that we can play with how the robot will move while we build the larger full competition robot. The second robot will be the competition robot itself. Details on this robot cannot be released for another year until after the competition, but the basic design is pretty much the same as the prototype Marvin Jr. The third and fourth robots will be identical. They will be tanks running on gasoline engines, probably weed wacker or lawn mower engines. They will use transmissions and servos. They will have probably 4 external I/O ports and several internal ones. Ideas for external units include a laser pulse gun and a model rocket launcher.
