1998's prototype is no longer functioning. This is mostly because of power supplies and other smaller systems that are no longer functioning. It is far from beyond repair, but due to current projects, Marvin Jr. may not be repaired.

Electronics

This is the main board of the robot. It maps two (has the capibility to map four) latch 74373 chip that will enable each individual I/O ports. This robot currently has 16 ports, but with two more latch chips could have a total of 32 ports.

Here you can see the ports and two cards. Everything is memory mapped from hex 400000 to hex 5FFFFF, where the TI92's external ROM would be. The latch chips will enable each port, giving us a total of almost 2MB of mapping per port. This will allow us to build anything from RAM cards to our sensor cards to our motor cards, all with the software to run them built right in.

The TI92 communicates with the cards using direct bus access. This design allows for almost endless possibilities. Here you can see where the TI92 connects its bus to the main router board.

This is the sensor array electronics. It is a single inverter chip that will convert the analog signal from the photoresistors to a digital signal.

Mechanics

This is what Marvin Jr. looks like.

This is how Marvin Jr. picks up the marble-sized balls for the competition. The roller will spin and pull them up a curved coppler plate behind the roller and pop them into the tray.

This is the tray. At the end of the round, it will back into the ball bin and dump the balls out into the bin. here you can see the tray in the down position, while it is rising, and all the way up.

This is inside the robot under the tray. You can see the tray lifted up. The sensor array is directly behind the ball collector.

Here you can see the back of the robot, and its rear wheel.

This is Dip. Created by Skinny (one of our part-time members) he has become our moscot. He is a very simple creature that knows only the simple things in life.
