CNC machine - Motor mountings The motion of the 3 axis is obtained by use of 3 stepper motors. One for each axis. The stepper motors I use are from old IBM Proprinters and are Sanyo Denki "Step-Syn" models, 4.1V, 1.1A, 200 full-steps per revolution, unipolar (i.e. 6 wires). The transmission of power and motion comes from a flexible shaft that clips over the motor shaft and the driven threaded rod. The shaft I used is a flexible pipe used for gas connectivity. The clips are normal jubilee clips. The motor and the threaded rod are coupled through an aluminium square profile. The motor is screwed to the profile by using long bolts and spacers.
