MacOS: WWW Archives

The best way to reach thousands of people is to upload your software to a shareware archive. There are many different archives and software search engines on the Internet, on this page you'll find the best of them.

But this page contains not only shareware archives, there are also some sites that just link to ineresting applications and utilities.


USA AMUG CD MacOS DOS Windows 3.x Windows 95 Windows NT Newton USR Pilot
Description: AMUG CD regularly releases different CD-ROMs like "BBS in a Box (MacOS Edition)", "BBS in a Box (Windows Edition)", "Newton CD" and "PocketData for Pilot".
Each CD contains hundreds or thousands of applications for Mac, Windows, Newton or the Pilot.
If you want to be part of one of these CD-ROMs, please take a look on their WWW server for submission policies, or just contact Michael Bean.

To get your files listed in the DOWNLOAD.COM search engine, you have to upload the files to the AMUG or Info-Mac archives, or (if you are a Windows programmer) the Simtel.Net or WinSite archives.

Description: FilePile is a nice new software archive for various kinds of operating systems.

Description: Info-Mac is one of the greatest Macintosh software archives with hundreds of mirrors all around the world. There is a mirror in nearly every country or state. Info-Mac also regularly releases Shareware CD-ROMs, where the new submissions of the archive appear.
If you want your files submitted to the Info-Mac archive, please read the posting guidelines on the Info-Mac homepage.
All files sent to the Info-Mac archivist are automatically listed in CNETs DOWNLOAD.COM and SHAREWARE.COM software search engines, and they are also added to the UMich archive..

USA Pacific HiTech MacOS
Description: Pacific HiTech has a great software archive on their FTP and WWW servers. If you want your files listed there, you have to be part of the Developer Directory. If you are not, you can simply sign up on the Pacific HiTech homepage.
All files submitted to the Developer Directory are put onto the Info-Mac CD-ROMs, but they will not be submitted to the Info-Mac archive itself.
