Study Tips
There are many ways you can study. We have outlined the most popular here; please feel
free to email me with any more you have.
 | Self-Study is by far the most popular way of learning the Microsoft
Office product. You can either consult the Online Help system in an Office program, or buy a training manual. The best way, I have found, for
self-studying is to buy a book about the Office program you
want to sit the exam about, then use the Exam Matrix at the Official
MOUS Website (click on Info to view them). This way, you can check off the items you
know, and use it as a base for further study.
|
 | Training CD-ROMS are also quite widespread, and there are some very
good ones about. However, make sure the one you are looking at is what you want before you
buy it - some can be either too easy or too difficult.
|
 | Videos and Cassettes most people consider to be tedious, boring and
irritating. If you 'lose your way' then you have to rewind to the exact position that you
need to be - anyone with a VCR knows how time-consuming and aggravating this can be.
|
 | Instructor-lead Classes are the most expensive, but usually the most
fun, way of learning. Make sure that the instructor is a MOUS (better still, a MOUS
Master) and knows what (s)he is talking about. Otherwise, you may waste all your money.
|
If you are using either manuals or training CD-ROMS to study, ensure that you purchase
ones with the 'Official MOUS Courseware' logo on it. This is your guarantee that it will
assist you in becoming either a Proficient or Expert in your chosen exam.
