PowerBuilder

My purpose to create this homepage is to promote PowerBuilder although I have just learned about it because I think it is an effective object-oriented programming but it is not so popular. If you want to suggest me, please do not hesitate you can e-mail me. Or if you want to know more you can visit Powersoft which is the creator of PowerBuilder.

What PowerBuilder is?

PowerBuilder is the fourth generation language (4GL) which is used for develop applications on Window. It works in the graphic mode like other programs running on Window so it is easy to use. It is an Event-Driven programming which means that all PowerBuilder coding is done in an object's event or in a common proccedure that is called from an event. Certainly, it is an object-oriented environment, which means it itmplements all of the important features found in object-oriented environments. PowerBuilder is very effective for applications that work with Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) by using Structure Query Language(SQL). Moreover, it support Client-Server architecture. It is very easy to understand and use, just right click on chosen controls and write scripts in PowerBuilder's script editor. It also supports to access other database such as Informix, Oracle or Access. Consequently, it is opened for other databases to comfort programmers. It is very powerful for database programming because it has datawindow that contains all data in a control. Using datawindow makes you feel convenient to write scripts to retrieve data or update your database and it also helps you save your resources.

Its interface is user-friendly. As for its syntax, it is very similar to human language such as retrieve(), open() or close(). It will be more easier if you can code in C Programming. It looks like another step of C. Not only can it run on Window but also on Unix and Macintosh. Powersoft has released the version for other platforms too.

To sum, with PowerBuilder features, you can code more easily than ever because of its use-friendly interface, client-server architecture, and multiplatforms.
