"What do you mean... you don't ship to Singapore?"
I was aghast when I found from the Matsucom website that the onHand PC sales are only going to be in the Americas. Fortunately, within a couple of weeks, that "oversight" was corrected and Matsucom started to take orders from all over the world. Perhaps it was the overwhelming interest from people in Asia and Europe that made them change their mind.
In any case, ordering from Matsucom was a snap, in general, although they had some problems with their e-commerce site in the early days that resulted in me having to call them up to place my order via telephone. They have apparently made quite some changes to the e-commerce site since I tried, so things should be much better now.
The ordering process is pretty straight forward. Simply state the color (all-black, or clear) of the watch casing that you want, the number of watches you are purchasing (hmm... perhaps I should have ordered 10 :-)), and any extra batteries that you want.
You should be aware that the clear white casing model uses light-gray translucent resin straps (you can actually see that in one of the pictures on the onHand website, although it is not very obvious). Also, the onHand PC is actually shipped with a total of 4 batteries - 2 pre-installed in the watch, and 2 in a cute little key-chain casing (matches the color of your watch) that you get to carry around. So if what Matsucom claims about the onHand PC battery consumption is true, that should last you about 8 months. There is a little caveat, though. Matsucom actually recommends that you replace the pre-installed batteries with those in the key-chain, immediately before resetting the watch. This is probably wise considering that the box may have been sitting on the shelf for months. But with the onHand PC fresh out of the oven, I figured, what the heck, and simply continued to use them. For what's it's worth, the pre-installed battery charge was full (at 100%), as reported by the Battery applet. After a couple of days of intensive usage and syncing via the docking station and IR, it is now down to 80%. So go figure.
