3. Receiving the shipment

Previous section...

You guys in the US have it easy.  Matsucom absorbed the delivery charges for you.  Delivering the package via UPS Expediated from Denver to Singapore costs me a whopping extra US$85, making this one of my most expensive toys even before I can touch it.  Grrr...

In any case, a couple of days after 12 Nov 1999 (the official shipping date), I sent a mail to Matsucom sales to check on the status of my order.  Slightly over a day later, I received an automated order confirmation email from Matsucom, and a personal email from a Matsucom rep, Laurel, who promised to check on the status within that day.  True enough, I received a UPS shipping notification email from UPS on that day (16 Nov) and another from Laurel that confirmed that the package has been shipped.  That's good enough customer support for me...

For the next couple of days, I was able to track the delivery via UPS, from Ontario to Japan to Taiwan and FINALLY, to Singapore on Saturday 20 Nov.

At long last, I can finally get my hands on one of the world's coolest gadgets...
