1899	October	18	The governor catches wind of the Grandes' counterfeiting operation and moves to shut them down.
	November	20	Judging it's time to cut their losses, Manny Beale and Tom Little, co-leaders of the Grandes take advantage of Beale's contacts in the Police Department, leaving their third partner Sam DeSole to take the heat.
1900	February	02	Greg Daley's acquaintance with Manny Beale begins, to his everlasting regret.
	June	06	Manny Beale purchases an old tavern on Broadway. Over the following months he rebuilds the interior.
	October	23	The Silver Nickel Gambling Hall opens for business for the first time. Greg Daley is among the Nickel's original employees.
	December	09	Tom Little is arrested and sent to Blackwell's Island.
1901	January	01	Beale discovers thirteen-year-old Samson Brindell sleeping in the basement of the Silver Nickel. In honor of the holiday and the fact that a former employee was recently arrested, Beale gives him a job.
1902
1903	February	08	Tom Little escaped from Blackwell's Island.
		14	Tom Little goes into partnership with Manny Beale and becomes co-owner of the Silver Nickel.
		24	Ellie Glass arrives in New York City, promptly finding work at the Silver Nickel.
	March	12	Straight McCoy begins working at the Silver Nickel.
		17	Tom Little joins the River Cats Gang.
	April	09	Lily Masterton leaves her place at the Lion's Den, and after a day of searching, begins work at the Silver Nickel.
17			Ben Green, after being turned away from countless other jobs, turns to the Silver Nickel and is hired as a look out.
