We are, each of us angels with only one wing; and
we can only fly by embracing one another.

~*~Manda~*~
Have you ever loved someone but knew they didn't care?
Have you ever felt like crying but knew you'd get nowhere?
Have you ever looked into their eyes and said a little prayer?
Have you ever looked into their hearts and wished that you were there?
Have you ever felt their heartbeat When the lights were turned down low?
Have you ever whispered "God I love you" but you'll never let me
show
Love is grand, yet it hurts so much the price you pay is high
if I could choose between love and death I'd rather choose to die
So do not fall in love my friend it doesn't pay a dime
it only causes broken hearts yet it happens all the time
So do not fall in love my friend You'll hurt before it's through
I ought to know my friend I fell in love with you

I've learned-
that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.
I've learned-
that it takes years to build up trust,
and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned-
that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned-
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned-
that you shouldn't compare
yourself to the best others can do.
I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.
I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned-
that you can keep going
long after you can't.
I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.
I've learned-
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.
I've learned-
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.
I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned-
that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.
I've learned-
that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to
doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned-
that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and
what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned-
that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish.
Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed
it.
I've learned-
that your family won't always be there for you.
It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you
and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological.
I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once
in a while
and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned-
that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you are to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned-
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop your grief.
I've learned-
that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned-
that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I've learned-
that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I've learned-
that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret.
It could change your life forever.
I've learned-
that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.
I've learned-
that no matter how you try to protect your children,
they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.
I've learned-
that your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.
I've learned-
that even when you think you have no more to give,
when a friend cries out to you ,you will find the strength to help.
I've learned-
that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I've learned-
that the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon.
I've learned-
that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice
and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.
An old man came down the road of life to a Chasm wide and deep.
He spent much time on the downward climb. Then scaled the walls so steep
And when he got to the other side, he set to build a bridge.
He'd build it safe and strong, so it would span from ridge to ridge.
He laboured on to build it strong with sturdy beams and piers
To span life's deep dark valleys and it's swirling river of tears.
And when he finished...standing near... another pilgrim asked:
"Old man, please tell me why, you thought to choose this awesome task!
Your life's near spent and yet you've lent much time to do this chore.
You'll travel not again this path before life shuts the door."
The Old Man said... "I build not thus for thee or me to cross,
I build so others coming might not suffer any loss.
There comes not far behind this way some day a fair haired youth.
He comes with hope and inspiration. Seeking love and truth
And when he comes he may not be prepared to climb or swim,
I build from love within my heart... I build this bridge for him.
So... if you think I am foolish.. and my work seems so absurd,
The reason for this bridge is found within God's Holy Word.
He said, "Do unto others as you do yourself each day"
And I just heard him speak again...
"Old man, you're still travelling the right way."

Is a flower still a flower,
If one removes the bloom?
Does it still serve a purpose,
With no nectar or perfume?
Can it feed the honeybee,
Or glisten in the dew?
Move a heart to splendor,
With it's gentle painted hue.
Although it's roots are growing,
Yet hidden in the ground,
Is a flower, still a flower,
When it's beauty can't be found!
Is a star, still a star,
If it does not shine it's light?
Does it still serve a purpose,
When it can't be seen at night?
Can it be a beacon,
Or twinkle in the sky?
Reflecting off ot others,
As they are passing by?
Although it still travels,
On it's predestined way,
Is a star, still a star,
With no light to give away!
Is an angel, still an angel,
If you clip her feather wings?
Does she still serve a purpose
With the mournful songs she sings?
Can she still move freely,
Within another's heart?
Speaking words of wisdom,
With a message to impart?
Although she's still connected,
To the heavens up above,
Is an angel, still an angel,
When no one's around to love!
Is love still considered love
If it's hidden and denied?
Does it still serve a purpose,
When it's buried under pride?
Can it fill an inner longing,
When no time is made?
With no acts of emotions,
Ever being displayed?
Although it's burning brightly,
And the flames still flare and rise,
Is love still considered love,
When hidden from other's eyes.

If I could paint a portrait,
Of this life in which I've led,
And somehow sketch a story,
Of the visions in my head,
I'd start out with a canvas,
Stretched tightly in a frame,
And in the bottom corner,
I'd leave room to sign my name.
I'd buy myself some pigments,
Made of the finest dyes,
Carefully choose my brushes,
And other art supplies,
I would not require a model,
To pose and play a part,
I'd paint for you a picture,
Of what lays within my heart.
I'd stain the backdrop all in black,
To hide a distant past,
Cover up the broken dreams,
Which were not meant to last,
And then I'd add some shades of white,
Then splash it all in gold,
I'd marvel at this painting,
This masterpiece foretold.
But in this soulful picture,
You would see some shades of gray,
Some imperfect human shadows,
Which will never go away,
They lay within the darkness,
Of the corners in my mind,
Stashed away in jaded hopes,
That they'll be left behind.
If I could paint a portrait,
Of this life in which I've led,
And somehow sketch a story,
Of the visions in my head,
I'd prepare for you a river,
Where I wash away my fears,
An ever constant flowing,
Which stem from my own tears.
I'd outline an horizon,
Where the mountains touch the sky,
Beyond the range of yesterday's,
Where the past's been left to die,
A life which seemed to only serve,
To smudge a hidden truth,
So real all of that appeared,
Through innocent eyes of youth.
I'd paint for you the setting sun,
Of wasted years left behind,
Now fading from my senseless life,
To clear a shrouded mind,
Those years of constant searching,
For a single ray of light,
That I could hold before me,
To guide me through the night.
And then I'd place the flowers,
Scattered in the field,
Each a different color,
Their meaning not concealed.
Each bloom would stand for feelings,
Of peaceful, loving thoughts,
Sprung up from all the fissures,
From the battles which I fought.
You're the highlights in this portrait,
The inspiring shades of white,
The texture and perspective,
That reflect the rays of light.
Without your patient presence,
In this picture I display,
The colors which are found there,
Would all just fade to gray.
Yes, if I could paint a portrait,
Of this life in which I've led,
And somehow sketch a story,
Of the visions in my head,
Beneath the color and the hue,
The gladness and despair,
Beneath it all, if you look close,
You'll find you're standing there.

This world has taught me many things,
It's served its purpose well,
Encased my heart, entrapped my soul,
Within it's phantom shell.
The first thing that it taught me,
Was life's a wicked road,
To prove it's point it taunted me,
With dreams I bought and sold.
Holding bait before my face,
Then snatching it away,
As I struggled endlessly,
To keep the wolves at bay.
The second thing it taught me,
A lesson carved in stone,
Is other's can't be trusted,
So it's best to be alone.
Don't think about companionship,
For it's merely an ideal,
A senseless flight of fancy,
None of it is real.
The next thing that it taught me,
Was love did not exist,
"Only fools and idiots, believe"
The world had hissed.
And just to add validity,
Each one that I've held close,
Has gone and left me trembling,
When I needed them the most.
It's taught me things I never knew,
Or really cared to hear,
Ruled my life through tyranny,
While casting doubt and fear.
Counterfeit realities
A story packed with lies,
Obscuring truth and vision,
With well versed alibis.
These truths the world has taught me
So contrasting they are,
To everything you've taught me,
My precious guiding star.
This path in which we tread upon,
Etched in this earthen ground,
Although there may be perils,
Dreams can still be found.
And trust, although it's very hard,
It's been the given key,
To open locks within my heart,
To set my spirit free.
The love I thought did not exist,
I see within your eyes,
While the truths the world has taught me,
Are a great big pack of lies!

When I was very, very young
I was told by the preacher man,
"Heaven is streets paved with gold",
But Heaven is the touch of your hand.
This preacher told me,
"Heaven is the angel's song",
But since I met you I know
Heaven is feeling I belong.
When I was a little older,
I forgot about Heaven above,
And sought on earth the streets of gold,
Down with caring and love!
Then the preacher told me
"Heaven is God's eternal plan",
Now I'm older and wiser,
And I found Heaven in the smile of a man.

He is lonely and he hurts inside.
"I need some love" I heard him cry.
I want to throw my arms around him,
Make him feel warm within.
But how long would that last?
The reminders and hurts of the past,
Never just lay down and die.
So again I hear him cry:-
"I need some love!" His sad refrain.
My tears form as I see his pain.
I know his fears, I have them too.
The emptiness, it runs through and through.
The cure? There is none that I know,
Just learning to live and to let go.
Taking pleasure in all I see, in all I do.
Holding on to love when I know it to be true.
The emotional barriers that can be raised,
Due to saddness that can not be erased,
Can only help to isolate, And solitude perpetuate.
So I say to him "learn to let go,
Give a little and you too will know,
Life isn't always this lonely and fraught.
One day, in love you will find yourself caught.
And that hurt little boy, way deep inside,"
The one that I once heard cry,
"Will finally fell safe and secure,
In a love that I hope is pure."
And I helped him dry his lonely tears.
Helped to allay his inexperienced fears.
And I said to myself "you're as strong as you ever hoped to be."
Staring into that mirror, I knew that that boy was me.

We all start out walking through this life all alone,
Searching for that one that we can call our own.
For some people love is so easy to find,
Others look everywhere going out of their mind.
Love is something no words can really explain,
But without it in our lives we would all go insane.
Control is just an illusion in this life of ours,
For our destiny is already written in the stars.
Love is unexplainable in more than one way,
Who we fall in love with we really have no say.
The heart won't listen, you can't make it fall,
You have no control over who you love at all.
So we go through life always seaching for,
The one that can make our heart race and soar.
Not knowing where to find them, or even their name,
But we keep on searching for them just the same.
For love is the one thing that makes life worth living,
Finding that someone to whom our heart will keep giving.
True love is a mystery to those who have never felt,
The way it has of making even the coldest heart melt.
Many have tried to find the words to describe how it feels,
But mere words are inadequate to the task they try to fill.
Love is more than just a feeling, it makes your heart sing,
There is no way to tell you about this wondrous thing.
You have to find out for yourself about this thing called love,
It is a rare treasure, a gift given to us from heaven above.
You will know when it hits you, of that there is no mistake,
Thought of that special person will your mind overtake.
Not to meantion the ache you feel when they're not around,
Or how your hearts will talk to each other without making a sound.
Those who have found love will tell you it is real,
Love conquers the tallest mountains and every hurt it can heal.
So don't give up on finding this thing we all need,
One day when you least expect it, it will bring you to your knees.
On your heart, body and soul it will make it's mark,
Love will shine it's light and it's warmth on your heart.
Life has a way of teaching us to build up our walls,
Love has a way of making every one of them fall.
It's everything you expect it to be and so much more,
True love is unconditional and will touch your very core.
It can also sometimes make us crazy and bring us pain,
But it is worth it in the end because of everything we gain.
So we go on with life's search each and every day,
And when the day is over, every night each of us pray,
That God will guide us safely down life's winding roads,
And lead us to that special someone we were meant to hold.
When this life is over and we all look back on the past,
May we all have found the love that for all eternity will last.
