BREAKING NEWS: MICROSOFT TO BUY OUT CAPCOM?!? 3:13 PM CST by: Trent Dickerson
As if buying Rareware wasn't enough, according to a new rumor on the Net, ever since Capcom reported a substantial financial loss, Capcom is, or will soon be, at a point where they could allow themselves to be bought out. Supposedly, Microsoft representatives have already flown to Japan to talk to Capcom with intentions of buying the company. However, don't be discouraged yet: there is another rumor going around the Net than Nintendo is seriously considering buying out Capcom. If Capcom is to be bought out by anyone, I would think it to be Nintendo as the two companies have a close history. That, plus I don't think Capcom would allow itself to be bought out by the new kid on the block, nor do I think Nintendo will allow this one to go down without a fight. More on the situation as it develops.

Banning of Video Games 10:02 PM CST by: Trent Dickerson
Well, there hasn't been a whole lot of news on the frontlines lately. Not even any rumors. Getting to the topic at hand, I recently wrote a paper for my Government class at school about the 'banning of video games'. I haven't gotten a grade on it yet, but I'm pretty confident in my work. Anyways, I've decided to take my paper and post it on this site as an editorial. And with the edition of this, it marks my first ever editorial for this website! Well, I have to go now. L8r.

It's Official: Microsoft Buys Rare 9:37 PM CST by: Trent Dickerson
Unfortunately, it's true. It was announced by IGN on Wednesday. The story, being sent by anonymous sources within Nintendo, say Nintendo has sold all it's Rare stock and it's 49% ownership to Microsoft, therefore terminating their second-party relationship. However, according to a recent interview with Nintendo, the loss of Rare will hurt them very little. Rare accounted for 9.5% of total software sales for Nintendo in 2001. In 2002, that number was 1.5%. If this rumor about the acquisiition of Sega works out, it wouldn't matter if Microsoft bought 50 Rares. That, and with the new deals with Capcom, Namco, and others, the loss should hurt gamers very little.

BREAKING NEWS: NINTENDO TO BUY OUT SEGA?!? 9:52 PM CST by: Trent Dickerson
What's this? Is this true? Well, as of right now it's a confirmed RUMOR, with no proof or evidence. But if I were you, I wouldn't put the idea totally out of your heads. Remember a couple months ago when there was a rumor that Nintendo was going to buy the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise? There was even a rumor that Sonic would be in Mario Kart GC. I mean seriously, this could all be true. Just look at all the recent titles. Sonic Adventure 2: GC exclusive; Super Monkey Ball 2: GC exclusive; Skies of Arcadia Legend: GC exclusive. And there's others too. The only Sega games on other platforms are the Sega Sports titles, which can easily be pulled. Think about it people: the acquisition of Sega would easily put rest to the stats that say Xbox will beat GameCube in total sales by the end of 2003. More on the situation as it develops.

Offer From GameCube Council 11:43 PM CST by: Trent Dickerson
Sorry for not updating in the past week, but like I said in my last update, there is a large chance that I won't be updating as often due to school. Anyways, I have received an offer from the GameCube Council, a forum for the elite among webmasters who own GameCube websites. The GCC is very new and doesn't have many members, but I am most certainly intrigued. The fact that I could be a founding member of a council of the most elite of Nintendophiles on the Net sparks a few ideas in my head. Maybe after we gain a few members, we could get people as powerful as the owners of Planet GameCube, Nintendophiles, and maybe a few editors from IGN and Gamers.com to join us. Then after that, maybe with the gathering of the biggest Nintendo fan-boys on the planet, we could even affect Nintendo themselves! The chances of that happening are slim to null, but I don't know, it could happen. I haven't accepted yet, but I am starting to lean towards it.
