In 2000, an institute was first registered under the name of KalaAwishkar in India. Here the Puddukkottai form of Bharatnatyam was taught. Over a fruitful period of 8 years, many a student has become consummate in this dance form. This institute has brought about a harmonious blend of dance and yoga. It has been a window for expression to mentally challenged students too, who have successfully mastered the art. This institute has conducted innumerable charity programmes over the year. In 2005 KalaAwishkar Dance Co. ended in India and in 2006 it was started in San Jose Ca. This school currently has young students from 3 years old to and students who are 40 years and up.

Guru A. Saudamini Rao

Guru A. Saudamini Rao, not only a Guru, but also a friend philosopher and guide, fondly called as ‘ Akka’ had shown rich promise of becoming a versatile danseuse from her tender age. Being a staunch devotee of art she has dedicated herself solely to the classical style of Bharatnatyam. She has mastered this most intricate and highly technical art by sheer hard work and perseverance from the descendants of Late Shri. Sivarama Natuwanar Bharatnatya Asthana Vidivan of the then princely state of Puddukkottai in Tamil Nadu.

Having attained the highest honors as a distinguished artist who correctly interpreted the cultural heritage of India to the Western audience in UK. She was honored by the first President of India, Babu Rajendra Prasad. He specially invited her to give performance in 1962 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She rendered the complete Korvai in Hindustani Ragas to make it popular in the north. She is an epitome of patience and love. She currently runs the Kaladarshan Dance Co. in India
