Heat oven to 350 degrees.* Grease a 13x9x2 inch pan with unsalted shortening.* Sift flour with salt, baking powder, cinnamon, all spice, and nutmeg.* In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter at medium speed until creamy.* Add sugar 1/3 at a time, beating well after each addition.* Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping sides of the bowl often.* Reduce the speed to low, mix in honey and then add the sifted dry ingredients, 1/3 at a time, alternating with milk.* Remove beaters, stir in figs and almonds.* Pour into prepared pan.* Bake 50 to 60 mins.* until top springs back when lightly touched with finger.* Turn out cake onto a wire rack and let cool completely.*
*Krazy Kake*
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp vinegar
3/4 cup salad oil
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups water
Do not dirty a bowl. Do not beat.
Sift dry ingredients together in a 9x13 inch cake pan.
Level off with a fork. Make 3 wells. In the first well
put the vinegar, in the second well the salad oil
and in the third well the vanilla.
Add water and mix well with the fork.
Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 mins.
Bake at 350 degrees, all ingredients, in a 9 inch cake pan,
for 35-40 mins.
*Sauerkraut Cake*
1/2 cup butter
1 and 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup water
1- 8 oz. can Sauerkraut, drained & chopped
remove and cool
*Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting*
Melt one 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips & 4 tbsp. butter over low heat.
Remove from heat & blend in 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 1/4 tsp. salt.
Gradually add sifted convectioners sugar, (2&1/2-2&3/4) cups or more to liking, beat well.
Spread over Sauerkaut Cake!
