*Scripture Cake*


4 and 1/2 cups 1 Kings 4:22
2 tsp Amos 4:5
3 tsp II Chronicles 9:9
1 cup (8oz) Judges 5:25
2 cups Jeremiah 6:20

2 tbsp 1 Samuel 14:25
1/2 tbsp Judges 4:19
2 cups Nahum 3:12
2 cups coarsley chopped (unblanched) Numbers 17:8

Heat oven to 350 degrees.* Grease a 13x9x2 inch pan with unsalted shortening.* Sift flour with salt, baking powder, cinnamon, all spice, and nutmeg.* In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter at medium speed until creamy.* Add sugar 1/3 at a time, beating well after each addition.* Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping sides of the bowl often.* Reduce the speed to low, mix in honey and then add the sifted dry ingredients, 1/3 at a time, alternating with milk.* Remove beaters, stir in figs and almonds.* Pour into prepared pan.* Bake 50 to 60 mins.* until top springs back when lightly touched with finger.* Turn out cake onto a wire rack and let cool completely.*

*Krazy Kake*

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp vinegar
3/4 cup salad oil
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups water

Do not dirty a bowl. Do not beat.
Sift dry ingredients together in a 9x13 inch cake pan.
Level off with a fork. Make 3 wells. In the first well
put the vinegar, in the second well the salad oil
and in the third well the vanilla.
Add water and mix well with the fork.
Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 mins.

*Sauerkraut Cake*


1/2 cup butter
1 and 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup water
1- 8 oz. can Sauerkraut, drained & chopped

Bake at 350 degrees, all ingredients, in a 9 inch cake pan, for 35-40 mins.
remove and cool


*Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting*


Melt one 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips & 4 tbsp. butter over low heat.
Remove from heat & blend in 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 1/4 tsp. salt.
Gradually add sifted convectioners sugar, (2&1/2-2&3/4) cups or more to liking, beat well.
Spread over Sauerkaut Cake!

*Passover Cheese Cake*


going to keep this one here, even though the holiday is past, it is a unique recipe anyway!

6 matzos
6 tbps. butter
1 16oz. container cottage cheese
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
juice of 1 lemon


Dip matzos in water and drain. Grease a baking dish with 4 tbsp. melted butter.
Fit bottoms and sides of dish with matzo.
Combine cheese, eggs, salt, sugar and lemon juice. Spread 1/2 the mixture over
layer of moistened matzo. Repeat with cheese filling and then another
layer of matzo. Brush top with 2 tbsp. melted butter.
Bake in 350 F oven for 1 hour until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Cut in squares. Makes 6-8 servings.

*Stir Fry Earthly Delights*


1 tbsp canola oil
3 carrots, sliced
small bunch of broccoli, separated into florets
2 bok choy stalks, sliced
2 tbsp grated fresh ginger root
6 oz. whole wheat noodles
2 tbsp tahini or peanut butter
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup vegie broth
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 scallions, chopped
1/3 cup dry roasted peanuts

Heat oil in a wok. Stir-fry the carrots, broccoli and bok choy with ginger. Meanwhile cook the pasta, then drain. Mix the tahini, soy sauce, broth and lemon juice in small bowl. Toss this sauce with pasta to coat. Add the scallions and stir-fried vegies. Garnish with peanuts. Serves 4.

*Fig & Walnut Pancakes*

1 cup (6 oz.) dried figs, coarsely chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
2 eggs
1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 and 1/2 cup milk, or fortified soymilk
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp canola oil
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp nutmeg

In large mixing bowl stir together figs, nuts & dry ingredients. In separate bowl beat together eggs, milk, oil & vanilla. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients & stir to blend. Pour about 1/3 cup batter for each pancake onto hot, lightly greased griddle. Bake until bubbles on top break & batter is set at edges. Turn to brown other side.
Serve hot.
Makes about 12 (5-inch) cakes.
