One of the most successful systems ever made, the NES filled the
void left by the aging Atari 2600. Like the 2600, the NES' games
were fun and addictive. Games like MegaMan2, Rolling Thunder, and
of course, Mario, Mario, Mario. Blockbuster Video carried tons
of carts, giving people the opportunity to play games they might
not other have bought. I even know a few people who never 'upgraded'
to the SNES because they still like the look and feel of the NES
system. Thats one longlasting system.

This is an interesting little item. It was gathering dust in the
back of a thrift shop, begging to be bought for $1.55... It was
complete, with all its parts, docs, etc. It uses 8 sensors to
determine where the players hands are, thus moving the characters
according to the players hand movements. It comes with a t-handle
that has grip attachments and fire buttons. There is also a 'power
bar' that is designed specifically for the Mike Tyson boxing game.
This cool-looking accessory does not actually hook directly to the NES console. Most of the time, when these gloves are sold, they do not have the special sensor bars. The plug is a 9 pin (the same as an Atari joystick), not the special NES plug. It is the sensor bars that plug into the console, and the glove into the sensor bars. Without the bars, the glove is useless.
This one was a Christmas present from me to Mom, but like all the
systems in our home, it has become to be 'family property'. There
are many great games for this system, and with the rental system
fully in place at Blockbuster, we all got to try many of the
carts.

While this portable unit has been around as long as the Atari Lynx, and much more popular, I never purchased one. I thought it was too crude for a new system... heck, its not even in color! So, I waited for one to appear in the thrift circuit, and, by golly, it did. Well, in parts, actually. I got one that was labelled broken, but looked very nice... the screen was all black. Then, I got another one that was really beat up, but worked fine. I had the technology, so I rebuilt them =). Now I have one very clean and working system. I also have acquired a couple of games through the thrift circuit, without paying the excessive prices that are floating around out there.

This little bugger I got when Electronics Boutique recieved a
huge shipment, and started selling them for $25, and the games
for $10 each. My friends and I each bought one, cuz we're all
gaming fools! The system itself is not really bad, it just takes
getting used to. For one thing, it kills my eyes after a short
time. The games aren't that bad... (I wish they'd make a good
Wario game for the N64, to satisfy that evil streak! =) Still,
I think that it was a bit before its time. The technology is too
young, too raw... for me, at least. Once it is refined, I'm sure
we'll see the grandchildren of VB.

The Best of the Best. This system was much anticipated, and when
the day arrived, there were few to be found. Waiting lists were
long, and prepaying was not always a way to assure one would be
waiting at the store. I was lucky. I found a place that had
gotten some, and had had the foresight to 'reserve' three extras.
