WET 43: War BonnetThe feather got me started, then I realized the horseshoe shape reminded me of a headband, so.....It's supposed to look like a war bonnet, on a background woven of cedar bark strips. I resized and sharpened each separate image, then put the headband on one layer, two copies of the cone (one mirrored) on another layer, LOTS of feathers (rotated 12 to 16 degrees more each time, mirroring half for the left side) on a third layer, the doubled oakleaf (one copy mirrored on a separate layer, then blended at 100 "multiply") on another layer, and the two smaller copies of the doubled oakleaf on another layer. Each layer was drop shadowed separately. For the background, I resized the stones image to 250 x 500, then doubled the canvas and added a mirrored copy of the image. I then used the Blur: Wind effect on 180 degrees at 40 pixels; I repeated this twice more . Now I made a copy of this image, rotated it 90 degrees and pasted it as a new layer over the vertically blurred background image. Then I blended these two layers at 100 "multiply," and merged them. I then copied the merged bonnet image and pasted it over the background as a new layer. I blended these two layers at 75 percent "normal" and the image was done except for softening a few stray pixels and adding a frame using 2 colors from the image. No color adjustments at all this week (amazing for me!).
