Batgirl with Hair
I thought the figure released for Batgirl from the "Batman &
Robin" movie looked really bad because she had no hair. So I
decided to make a version that did. I also wanted to put the
correct symbol on her costume. I removed her head, then sanded
off the old round Bat-symbol. Then I sculpted a new one on her
chest based on movie photos. I then removed the ears from the
head and sculpted on hair from Sculpey. I tried to stick as
close to the actual photos as I could; I feel that it is
pretty on the mark, but the detail could have been better.
Hey, you live and learn. Then I repainted the figure. I am
not 100% satisfied with the color of her hair. I tried a lot
of different methods: one color of flat paint, light tan with
a darker wash and dry-brushed metallic gold, etc. But I wound
using "Aztec Gold" acrylic paint. I wanted her hair to be shiny,
like Alicia Silverstone's was in the movie, but it's a little too
metallic looking yet. Suggestions, anyone?
