OVER OPPONENT'S TAKEOUT DOUBLE
- New Suit = Forcing at the 1 level
- New Suit = at the 2 level Not Forcing
- Jump Shift = Invitational
- Redouble = Positive (9+ HCP), balanced.
- 2NT = Four-card support, at least invitational
CUEBID
A cuebid when partner has not bid shows two non-touching suits. They will be the suits on either side of opening bidder's suit. For example:
- 2C cuebid = 5+ diamonds and 4+ spades (but not 4-3-5-1)
- 2D cuebid = 5+ spades and 5+ clubs
- 2H cuebid = 5+ spades and 5+ diamonds
- 2S cuebid = 5+ clubs and 5+ hearts
SLAM CONVENTIONS
- 4NT is Blackwood:
- When bid during 1st or 2nd round of bidding
- When bid with a jump over a suit bid (not a cue-bid)
- After a Texas Transfer
- 4C is Gerber:
- When bid directly over a notrump opening bid
- If responder's 2NT has been raised to 3NT during the 2nd round of bidding. (example: 1C - (P) - 2NT - (P) - 3NT - (P) - 4C! )
- After 1C - (P) - 3C - (P) - 4C!
- After 1D - (P) - 3D - (P) - 4C!
- Responses to Ace-asking are 1430 when a suit is implied, otherwise 0 (or 4), 1, 2, 3.
- Ace-asking responses when there is interference; Double= 1st step, Pass= 2nd step.
